Hey there, Brad...I have that one here at home, but have never read it. I gotta thank you for getting me started on this site...it has really pushed me to read more! I am actually reading "To Kill A Mockingbird" right now, but will take your lead for my next one!

Hi there Nexus! Sorry I didn't get to you yesterday - LONG week here at the library. Very tired Bookbabe!

I've decided to follow your lead and get back into trying out some of the classics I've missed despite my stellar education. LOL! I think the next up on the list I have is "A Streetcar Named Desire". Will let you know what I think of it. Have been reading my ususal fare of late - vamps, werewolves, and such - but find myself actually growing a bit bored with them. Time to try something else, right?

Hope you had a good weekend! Will take a look at your shelf, see what you're reading... :-)

Glad to hear you got more out of Dracula than I did. Maybe it was watching all the vamp movies before reading the book? Sigh. I just didn't think it was that exciting. For my money, I'd go with the other monster classic, "Frankenstein". I found that book fascinating!! The whole nature vs. nurture theme running through it is very relevant to today's world. When Victor pretty much tells his creature that he's evil and monstrous, the creature responds that most of what he's become is due to Victor's rejection of him. WOW! Yeah, the creature in the book is NOT the hulking thing portrayed in most of the movies. He's actually very intelligent and articulate, after teaching himself how to read, etc. Let me know what you think of it, OK?

    Hi friend,
Just a short note to wish you a very happy Easter! Hope you are having a great rest and enjoying time with your family and friends.
I hope you don't mind if I browse your shelfbook from time to time in order to share tastes in books. I know you are into science-fiction and we have "Odissey 2001" in common, also "Frankestein" and "Dracula".
Take a good holiday rest and keep in touch,
    A Shelfari Spanish friend,
    Elisabeth

    Hi Nexus,
Thanks for asking my friendship. Yes, we have a few books in common and I surfed in your bookshelf and find you love books about adventures, misteries, fun reading... I heartly recommend you "The Shadow of the Wind" by Ruiz Zajón, a Spanish writer for youth public, but this novel is an all-age read. You would find everything in it. You can read my review if you want.
Please forgive my mistakes in English, I'm a Spaniard and I just started reading in English in 2007.
Looking forward to chatting about books,
    Your Spanish friend,
    Elisabeth

    Brad,
You were right, this is very cool. I like your idea about reading everything they assigned in school. You may want to look at the Newbery Medal winners list. My B.S. in in Elementary Ed, so I was once very familiar with these:

I prefer Studylight.org over Crosswalk. If you haven't tried it you need to. I like the resources being printer friendly.

nexus, I just came by to say hi and request friendship. I thought I would look at your books. Do you mean you just started reading fiction. You have obviously read the Bible.

We seem to share an interest in late 19th century lit--I love seeing these writers grapple with the idea of modernity and all that new-fangled technology. Strangely enough, I've never read Verne. I think you may have just inspired me--thanks!

I love the classics; there is so much to discover! Right now I'm reading The Portrait of a Lady and am loving it. If you like Jane Austin, you'll like this book.
