I'm a school media specialist at a large urban high school in New Jersey. I also work part time as a reference librarian in a small public library. I have pretty eclectic reading tastes from YA, biography/memoir, general fiction, chick lit, mystery and romance.

Hi, I recently started reading James Patterson again. I had read a lot of his older books years ago. I really enjoy The Women's Murder Club books. I loved the series on TV too. I also really like the books he writes with Michael Ledwidge such as Step on a Crack and Run for you Life. They are about an NyPD detective with 10 adopted kids. I have most of the ones written with Andrew Gross but have not read them yet, but I really enjoy the books Andrew Gross has written by himself.

Hi I loved Twenties GIrl, but I always love Sophie Kinsella's books. I think that Remember Me and Twenties Girl are two of her best, but I also loved Shopaholic and Baby. I have just started reading a book called Mine are Spectacular and it is really good so far. I had never heard of the authors. Have you read anything good recently?

Probably not - I wasn't a huge fan of Prada (although I loved the movie). And I haven't read any of her other ones.

I agree with you on the Giffin books - I wish she would write something that compares in quality to her first two, but I did like this one better than Love the One You're With. Same deal on the Evanovich. All I can remember is the polygamist guy running away naked and dropping dead.

I just finished it this morning. It was really good, although I felt a little deja vu after having read Husband and Wife by Leah Stewart and The Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin, which both had similar plots and resolutions. I do love Jennifer Weiner's writing. I read Sizzling Sixteen too. What did you think?

I haven't read either of those--at some point I want to do The Help for my group though. We are doing The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane and having the author speak with us via Gchat or Skype (whichever I can figure out, haha).

I LOVED the first one. I ended up not reading the sequel yet, since guilt got the best of me and I'm finishing a book I have to read for book group. It is up next though. I need to get it done because I know there will be holds :-)

Hmmm, did you read Hunger Games? If you haven't, you've got to. I just got the sequel today--I've got 2 solid hours to read this evening--I can't wait!

Oh, yes, I did hear about that session at Stockton. Although I was interested, I decided to pass, as I'm heading to Washington, D.C., during the first week of August to participate in a Summer Teachers Institute on primary sources at the Library of Congress. There's only so much "librarianship" I can handle over the summer ;-) Enjoy!

    Hey, Nicole!

Where are you taking the Coming of Age Lit class? Sounds good ... I'd be interested in seeing the reading list when you get it. Enjoy!

Hey, Nicole! Thanks for the tip about Retail Hell (I get lots of fun ideas from peeking at your shelf). I actually recommended it to one of my former students who's among my Shelfari friends (Glamour Girl). She's now a college student in NYC and hoping to become a fashion journalist. I thought it would be right up her alley. I assume you got it as an ARC at BEA. Sadly, my schedule didn't permit me to attend BEA this year ... but honestly, I'm still trying to read all the ARCs I snagged two years ago ;-)

I was in West Orange today visiting Edison's home. My husband just finished his first year teaching, so we're spending our first summer off together and have decided to take weekly "field trips." Last week we went to the tenement museum in NYC, and as a result I found TE's lavish home both lovely and disturbing. Can't wait for the lab to re-open.

    Hope you're enjoying summer!

Yep, I made it up for Saturday. I got 14 signed books, and 7 arcs. It was my first BEA, my friends told me that they ended up with much more books last year, but I left with a signed R.L. Stine book so I'm all good LOL These are the ones I got signed: http://www.shelfari.com/thecatcheronrye/tags/bea09_autographed then I tagged the ones with just bea09 for the arcs. I was already reading Suite Scarlett, I took it on the bus with me TO NY so now I have two copies. I want to read Geektastic next!

Not this year... I would really love to one of these years though. My library doesn't pay for me to go, so it's hard to justify the expense!

The weather here is okay for January - nothing terrible happening, like a few fee of snow - New Years Eve was quite around here, but we did spend Jan. 1,at my daughters with all the grandchildren and their parents for dinner, now it is back to the regular old grind! Brett loves sports and watches with his dad, they gave him the Phillies Championship DVD for Christmas and he watches it everynight before he goes to sleep. He is named after BRETT FARVE of the Green Bay Packers (now Jets) my son has been a Packer fan since grade school and Brett Farve is his favorite player, Danielle is also into sports but Hannah Montana runs a close second and "TROY" from High School Musical-four years old and already a "groupie" I hope her parents are ready for her! I thank you for your kind words about my grandchildren -- to me there are none cuter or better than mine. Have a wonderful and peaceful new year. Gayle
