I'm a teacher, a mother, a daughter and forever a student. I love to lose myself in a book, it can be any genre. With every book a little something is always taken from it, a lesson learned, a meaning captured that relates to one's life. I also love to cook and read cookbooks from around the world as if they are novels. I also dabble in all the... more »

You have caught my attention with the unique way to keep track of the books you have read. I think I might follow your lead and begin with my next books.

No. He's a she. :-) She'll be 2 years old in Nov. She's 83 pounds and is finally learning manners, despite my husband! lol
sorry about your kit. I had that happen early on when cross-stitching a forest. The sky was blue. Since I worked in grids one square grid was short so I bought a skein of floss. That square still stands out like a sore thumb to me. After that I always worked in random rows down so if I went short the blue would look like it belonged there.
Hope all the kids are past there seperation anxieties and hopefully moms are easy going.
Since Kelly had teachers for 4-5 years at a time I became friends with her teachers as we moved around. Talk about a hard job!! She's 25 but we still go to a class party her teacher holds for alumni's. Kelly loves going back.
Got caught up on some reading last week. We went camping in Ohio at Indian Lake. I read while Kelly did a puzzle and my husband and other daughter kayaked.
Best part of the trip was I saw a cousin I hadn't seen in a while and she gave me a couple of old cookbooks from my grandmother.
Good luck with your stitching and hope you found a solution for your color.

Hi Olympia - I don't have a whole lot of books on pps anymore just because as they flew out of the house, more books flew in and in a short time I was drowning in unread books! In any case, if there's anything on there that you'd like to read, just let me know. I've donated most of the other books that lingered on pps just to make space.

I saw that you're a crocheter. Are you on Ravelry? I'm istop2knit on Ravelry (I don't crochet, but I do knit a lot).

    Cheers!

I am fine, how are you? I'm actually reading One Day by David Nicholls, which is amazing. What about you? How's The Help? I've been meaning to read that for a while now. But you know, too many books, not enough time.
That does make things a bit harder! I do hope you eventually manage to visit the Azores. I'm actually going to S.Miguel next week! I haven't seen much of it in previous visits, so I'm hoping that this time I'll get a better look at the island.

Hi! I'm so sorry I took so long to reply! I'm from the Azores, Terceira. Have you ever been? If you haven't, you should :)
Over here it has been an extremely hot summer. Do you normally visit every year?

Olympia: I found WOMEN by Boyle to be a very interesting audiobook.
It includes all four of the women in Wright's life. LOVING FRANK by
Horan, one of my faves, focuses on one of the women.

Checked the book title. It was One more day. It just jumped around in past and present to much for me to keep it straight.

    Hi Olympia,
Is this the first Mitch Album book you've read? I have loved all his books except one. I think it was called Tuesday Morning. I've enjoyed browsing your books and plucking a few of them off to browse. lol
Hope your first week of school starts out fun.By the way, the profile pic is of my new kid. Her name is Abby and she's 2 in November.
How is your cross-stitch project turning out?

The Memory Palace is a very good read - one you have to take some time with to "feel". I hope you'll like it. I like to knit, crochet, quilt, cross-stitch (the more complicated - beadwork, etc.) the better. It is extremely difficult with all of the review books for me to get to all of my textile crafts, so I've determined to cut down on accepting review books (will still accept, just not as many), and start giving time to creating lovely things. It IS hard to do, and I wish there were more hours in a day (or that I didn't need a full allotment of sleep) :)

    Hi Olympia;

Yes, that is my corgi Milly. I am crazy about dogs and really wish I could have a few more:) Sure, peek at the shelf. I like to see what others are reading although my TBR pile tends to get bigger when I do that!

lol. Pre-schoolers wow! After a while I'd be spelling Cat with a k.
You're welcome for the hint. I have taken up to 3 years on a project since I sometimes can't work on them for 3-4 months at a time.
I was a navy wife (he's now retired from Navy) and have a mentally challenged daughter (25) and a daughter in college (20) .
I still work on projects just not such large ones.
I'm looking forward to watching your shelf for book suggestions. :-)
    Good luck with the fumigation!

Sorry to slip into a conversation but I saw you were a newbie to cross-stitching. You might know this already but just in case: If you copy the original pattern and then highlight the stitches you've already done it will allow you to pick up at anytime and know exactly where you were last. Good Luck!

Hi Olympia. Yes, I do counted cross stitch too! I think I'd go crazy if I didn't. LOL

I've been working on a very large project called "From This Day Forward" Paula Vaughn. It's gorgeous but I've been working on it for 3 YEARS!! A lady I know (who used to live here) has moved to Alabama and still sends me patterns to do for her. She pays me, but they take a lot of time. I've done some really nice pieces for her that haven't taken me this long but between working, reading and my craft fairs, I have to put it aside from time to time so that's why it's taken so long. I'm doing the backstitching now but have to really concentrate in some areas so I have to be in the mood. I'm hoping to finish it up by next month and get it off to her.

Your portrait sounds really nice. Is it a pattern or something you've made up?
