I am a life-long reader and love to share that joy with other readers. The fulfillment I have from reading about other times, places, cultures is such an important part of who I am.

I lived the first 10 years of my life in a VERY small town (less than 500 people). The library was a room in the fire station and open only on Saturday. I...more »

We have talked about RAGBRAI several times and may ride it next year. My friends and I have done several other rides across other midwestern states and Iowa is about the last one on the list. I will keep you updated if we do decide to cross the Hawkeye State by bicycle.

So sorry to hear you were eliminated on LTS. I've kind of lost track of that and who is doing what with it, but I do know it's a really cool game.

BUT LTS's loss is RIT's gain! So glad you're joining us. My goal with RIT is to have members participate in as many groups as they want without having the RIT Challenges divert attention from anything else. The Alphabet Soup Challenge did get more complicated than what I'd originally anticipated, but the next Challenge (starting in August) will be easier.

First: For RIT Challenges, you read books from your TBR pile which can include something you just bought yesterday and does include all library books. The point is, you don't have to buy anything new or you can incorporate anything you've currently bought. It's your TBR pile to choose from.

There is no special set of FAQ's for RIT because so far each challenge has been very different from the last, but if you want to jump right in with us now, then I suggest you take a look at the discussion: "Letters and Bonus Overview For June" That will give you a pretty good idea of what's going on in June, and it would probably be easier to answer your questions after you've read that than try to explain everything here or in email. The purpose of the Alphabet Soup Challenge is to work your way through the alphabet by reading books that have specific letters each month in the title. We have a lot of big readers in RIT, so I expect many will complete the alphabet, and that is the primary goal. To determine a winner from those who finish all the letters, there are ways to earn bonus points. Whoever has the most points at the end of the challenge wins.

I hope this is enough to get you started. Please email me with any other questions or just post your questions in the various discussion groups. Everyone at RIT is very helpful, and you'll not be stuck for long. :)

I forgot to tell you that unicdreamer is from O! Yes isn't this strange? I am still in awe over the connections we can make. I don't know about Iowa but I have looked for bookclubs in this area and there just is not any. It is only recently that I have found a few people that are in clubs online. Thank goodness cuz I was thinking no one here read but me! haha :p

Hi Laura! I'm the moderator for Play Book Tag, and I really wanted to extend a warm welcome to you and to thank you for joining. I loved reading your profile . . .especially the visual of you stretched out on the floor reading. I used to do the same thing as a child - - on this horrible orange and brown shag carpet that was in our living room. I'd lay there for hours reading and sometimes I'd fall asleep right there. Your shelf is terrific - - we definitely share some favorites. I really like Sue Miller and also Watership Down!! But our tastes definitely overlap in general . . .At any rate, we are starting a new tag for April very shortly. It will be announced on the 31st. And I'm very excited to see you are already participating in the group :). Thanks again for joining us!
