I love books! I like to collect books that I've enjoyed over the years and look at them on the shelf, like photographs to remind me of time well spent, and when I don't like a book, I can't discard it quickly enough. I am currently gravitating toward historical fiction and philosophical literature, with the occasional post-apocalyptic sci-fi or fantasy (NOT the ones from drawn-out, never-ending series)for variety. I'm not averse to sinking into the occasional easy read when grad school (Piling it Higher and Deeper) gets to be overwhelming, but my occasional forays into popular fan-literature tend not to be very rewarding. I really appreciate audiobooks whenever I'm doing mindless lab tasks, and will devour whatever cds I can borrow from my friends. My shelf contains most of what I've read (or listened to) recently (including a few not-so-favorites), plus a few odds and ends that I loved ages ago. Books I "own" are recent acquisitions (mostly second-hand) that I'm not quite committed to yet, but would welcome other readers' opinions on. Take my ratings with a grain of salt--I liked all of the books with three or more stars, and books with five are my well-cherished favorites.
