Just read When You Reach Me and liked your review. I do wonder sometimes if kids find the medal winners as likeable as the adults. I like Snead's book partly because I just listened to A Wrinkle in Time. Hard to imagine how many children would manage to read both. Hopefully there are more readers out there than I think.
oooooooo that is so cool i am trying to learn the piano but its hard
I just hit the 25 year mark at my public library and like you - there are too many books to discover to quit reading now. I enjoyed your review of Howards End is on the Landing.
I am so glad you liked it. I love it also. I think he is a wonderful writer and wish he would write more. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
Hi Ellen and thanks again for accepting my friend request, I’m the Author of four poetry books about love-romance-life etc. If you are delighted by the two poems below maybe you will consider adding my four books to your shelf. My two newest works will be out next week.
The World As We See It
The world as we see it gone
The world as we see it vague
The world-our world
Your world-my world
God created.
The world as we see it
No longer pure-safe
The world as we see it
Wish to run-hide-escape.
The world as we see it gone
The world as we see it vague.
The world that once was
Free from sin-a world where
Anger-hatred-lies to fall in
The world that ate forbidden
Fruit, that sends our
Bones to hell
Biblical verses of
Old that still
Prevail.
The world that we use to know
The world as we see it gone
The world as we live in it
Vague.
I Love you
I love you to the moon
I love you to the end of the planets.
I love you till there's no love in the equator,
I love you knowing nothing could be greater,
I will love you from now until decades later.
Let me love you now, not later.
Let me love you to
Northern skies,
Western hemispheres,
Without worries, fears or cares.
Allow me to love you,
Until you care, blossom up,
Open up-heal from old wounds
That you suddenly, slowly start to share.
Our love is genuine-it can't compare.
Now your love has opened up wide
Like a brand new gift on Christmas day
See what happens when you allow
Someone to love you.

I just saw your review of Where the Mountain Meets the Moon and I'm glad to see that you liked it!!! :) :) :) I just remember being stuck in traffic going downtown one day and not even NOTICING because I was so wrapped up in listening to the story!
Welcome to the group based on the book 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die.
There is a general explanation of the group under the discussion thread GROUP GUIDELINES.
The books of the month (BOTM) that the group is reading are pinned to the top. June’s BOTM are The God of Small Things by Roy, Wide Sargasso Sea by Rhys and Midnight’s Children by Rushdie. The choices for the BOTM for July are posted, please join in choosing next month’s book(s).
We are also starting something new. It will be a Long Read consisting of books from the list that are greater than a 1000 pages. The group will be starting with War and Peace by Tolstoy which will be a May, June, July read.
Hey Ellen, I see that u have read Jonathan Kellerman The Web. I have this on my shelf to be read soon. What did u think of it?? Is it a good Murder Mystery??
Hi Ellen! Although my shelf would make it seem so, I am actually not a children's librarian (I'm a circulation librarian, audiobook librarian, and cataloger--we're a small staff!). I just really like many young adult titles, particularly in the horror and historical fiction genres. I also find it handy for readers' advisory to know a bit about YA and children's books.
I'm a big fiction reader, and I tend to enjoy literary fiction, historical fiction, and mysteries. Travel memoirs, theatre, language, belles lettres and history are the topics I enjoy most in nonfiction. I'll be sure to run through your shelf for some ideas! :)
I've found Shelfari to be an excellent RA tool--I've shown some regular patrons my account when they ask what I've read recently. It's very interactive, they get a visual, and they can also see my review. What are your thoughts? I'd be interested to hear them!
Thanks so much. I sent her a note!
I hope my students like Shelfari as much as I do!

Hello-
I am a middle school teacher in central Illinois. I was wondering if you knew any teachers that used Shelfari in the classroom to get their students excited about literature? I have found some groups, but most are blocked so I can't sent the teacher a message. I am especially interested in the types of problems teachers encountered with Shelfari. Thanks for any help you can give me!

FYI: Don't read The Man Who Walked Between the Towers!! :-P
Found a new series of quirky mysteries that I like. The author is Peter Tremayne, a prominent authoriey on ancient Celts. and the series consists of mysteries of ancient Ireland. Features Sister Fidelima, a smart lawyer of the seventh century. Got your interest? Has exciting plot twists and satisfying solutions. Just finished The Leper's Bell and will be tackling A Prayer for the Damned.
I like Fae Kellerman but am reading the Laura Joh Rowland books bout a samauri detective in the 16th century. I like quirky detectives from different countries and different ages. Any suggestions? (I read all the Brother Cadfael books and loved them.)
Hey Ellen, it's gonna be verrry close, depends on how much I get read on the plane Friday (about 2/3 done right now). It's such a great book, so you're gonna love it!
Gosh, Ellen. I just added another book to my 'I've read' shelf -- that brings me up to 3! Your shelf is in the hundreds....
Hi Ellen! Welcome to Quilter's Group! Please feel free to add to our group shelf and discussions!
No Cubs books on the list yet, heard of some good ones? I'm thinking a Harry Caray book would be fun!!!!!
