Ansley C

Hi, my name is Ansley and I live in San Antonio. I am very young, although most the books I read are thick, long books! I also love history and read alot of books about that topic. I also love Nancy Drew books and the wholeTwilight series, and have read them all. When I get older, I hope to become an author and write my own series of books. Add... more »

Hi Ansley! Thanks for the invitation to the Nancy Drew group. I read & loved all of those books [at least as many as were available] when I was in grade school & junior high. I admired Nancy & although I did not want to be a detective I certainly did want to be adventuresome just like her. In the 1950's & early 1960's I think she was a fairly good role model for young women. (You see how long ago I read those books--I'm now 62 & looking forward to retiring from my law practice after I turn 65.)
How many Nancy Drew books have you read? What ones did you like?
As you can tell from my shelf I still love mysteries, particularly where the detective is a woman! Maybe I'll re-read some of the Nancy Drew books--I'll let you know.
How's school this year? Reading anything interesting? Drop me a note when you can.

Hi, I am Denise and I have just started up the group Rigmarole. It is a group that is actually a game where you start a story and write as much as you want of it and then leave it for other people to complete it. Please stop by and check it out, thanks!

hey, i gave you my rec on the Nancy Drew book, but really if you ahve read any of them you prolly knnow that you should read them all (except the ones in the 100s which i personally always thought were pretty bad, not at all C.K. usual style). I see that you read "The Other Boelyn Girl". Pretty big stuff. Did you like it, I see it has stars but that doesnt mean you liked it, just that it was well written. Anyhow I tried reading it, but it was too sad for me =) hmm good for you tho if you got through it!

Ansley, did you ever ready REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM by Kate Douglas Wiggin? If you like Anne of Green Gables I think you'd like it. K. D. Wiggin also wrote a popular Christmas story entitled THE BIRDS CHRISTMAS CAROL which my mother read to us every Christmas growing up.

Hi Ansley! Nice to meet you! I just love your hat--you look great. It's nice to meet a young woman who likes hats--I'm 62 & I think hats are wonderful--it's too bad that most women don't wear them often today.

Like you, I always loved history. I majored in history in college & as you can tell, I continue to read lots & lots of history.

I'm delighted to be your friend. I change my avatar frequently to reflect what I am currently reading. I'm into another Victorian phase these days. I'm reading Dickens' The Pickwick Papers and a nonfiction book called "Victorian London." I try to read a fiction and nonfiction book in tandem. I see you've read many books about Elizabeth I, my all-time favorite. I haven't read anything in the past sevral years. What wold you recommend?

On another Novel note Alison Weir has a new novel on the Young Elizabeth due out in the UK on April 03, April 29th for the US called The Lady Elizabeth you might want to check that one out. : ) Please see my page I have listed it.
