Dear Robyn: I saw from your book shelf that you enjoyed reading Dan Brown's Angels & Demons. If so, you might keep an eye out for my new novel HUNTING THE KING. HUNTING revolves around a charismatic young woman named Molly O'Dwyer. Molly was five years old when she witnessed her mother die in a fire. She never knew her father. After her mother’s death, she was raised on the campus of a Jesuit college. Now an archaeologist, she has been recruited to participate on a dig in war torn Iraq. As a scientist she is compelled to discover whatever or whoever is buried under the sands of ancient Babylon. As an observant Catholic, she is scared that whatever she finds will have devastating consequences for her faith. There is a wonderful YouTube book trailer well worth watching if you have the chance. If you do get to see, please let me know what you think. Thanks. Peter

Why do people strive for perfection?
    People are like books:
    If everything was perfect..
It wouldn't be worth a second glance.

oh, and i need to mention that how to read lit REALLY does work (not that i had doubts). i started reading breaking dawn last night (and basically haven't stopped) and all through it i'm hearing what i imagine to be some english professor's voice pointing out certain things i most likely wouldn't have noticed before. hopefully the 'voice' just means that the tips from the book have really sunk in and isn't a sign of oncoming lunacy. =/

    Question!
i'm still working on the Journal/how to read literature like a professor book, but for my other book i'm going to use one i've already read, so don't worry. But those things you post on hotchalk, do i need to go on and answer those for every chapter or include it in my journal entrys? thankyouu.

i signed up for classes at EKU yesterday, and i'm taking English 105! if i make an A or a B in there, then i get credit for English 101 AND English 102, but it's just a 3 hour class like everything else!

What about doing something thematic so you can carry it through the year? You don't want to repeat anything that you're eventually going to do in AP, right? I think it would be cool to do existentialism or comedy or tragedy or magical realism or something like that and carry it through the whole year as a connection among all of the novels that you teach. I've got ideas if you want to toss them around.

Tell me more about the focus of your independent study. Is it a prep for the AP exam or just a literature class? Seniors?

I just wanted to thank you again for everything Ms. Smith. I got a 3 on the test so I am hoping that will get me out of English 100 or at least give me so elective credit. =] Good luck with the new group!
