I am a bibliophile. A big one. I love fiction mostly, but am getting more into nonfiction. I read a lot of historical fiction and fantasy novels. I am particularly fond of fairy tales that have been retold with new twists. Once I find an author I like, I won't quit until I've read everything they've written!

You should get Moon Called from me this week. I mailed it from work, so the return address will be Rico Industries.

I'm thrilled to have won your book and I'm looking forward to reading it. I was perusing your shelf and I can't believe we have 133 books in common and what a great list of common books they are! The Historian is one of my favorites too. I've just finished the Graveyard Book and Angels & Demons. Also recently read and loved The Book of Lost Things - in fact I'm reading a Connelly book now for the thriller tag and it started out great - it has my attention. We also have The 13th Tale (love it), Water For Elephants, Where the Heart Is, and Beauty by Robin McKinley in common. All of them among my most memorable books. I have one to recommend since I see what we both like, High Hearts by Rita Mae Brown is one I have recommended often to people and they've all liked it. It's an older book and, I believe, written before her Sneaky Pie Brown series. I've PMd you my address, etc.

Great! I'm really excited how the swap will turn out this time. Last time I was very lucky, I got The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, now a favorite of mine. This round seems like I am testing what it is like to be one of the first persons to choose a book! It's like a box of choclate, right? You never know what you gonna get... ;)

Thanks, serenity! Because of the time difference to Germany there can be a bit of delay. Sorry for that. Have a nice day.

Mostly my dad just writes about transportation - like the history of small local railroads. He has also written a biography of Brigham Young's childhood in New York state. Right now he is writing a lot about the Erie Canal because he is interested in helping to revitalize the canal.

I think our reading speeds and styles are very similar! Average of about two books/week normally. But you and I have both been leaders in some of the challenges on PBT, so we both have a little bit of competitiveness in us when necessary.

Since I'm not working right now, my schedule is much more flexible than yours. If we knew when exactly the legs were going to start, I would plan to be free at those times - but we don't know. We do know when Leg 1 will start - on Saturday 8/1 at 6:00AM EST. Luckily, I'm free that day so I'm going to set my alarm for 5AM (I'm in the central time zone) and start reading!

I suppose that we should move some of this strategic talk to the private group, huh? I'll copy this note to the group under a thread called "Leg 1 Strategy discussion"

    Morning Serenity,

I set up a private group for us to plan and keep track of our teams results for TAR. It has the marvelously original title of "Serenity and Doughgirl's TAR Group". We can always change the group title later if we want :-) And hey, it's only temporary anyway.

This is something that I or another team member has done in every other PBT challenge I've played in, so it occured to me that it might be a good idea for this game also. I sent you an invite and if you agree that it's a good idea, please accept the group invite.

The only thing I've posted so far is a list of books that I plan to read for this challenge. I indicated on the list which books I thought I could read faster so we can plan who is taking each country for each leg.

Just out of curiousity, how fast do you read? Normally I finish about two books a week, but when pressed during a challenge I can finsih a book a day - or even a few hours if I'm in the groove and have the time. Luckily, I have much more spare time right now since I'm not working.

    Morning!

Well, I SHOULD have been finalizing my resume this morning. But instead I finalized the list of books that I'm planning to read for The Amazing Read LOL. I now have books for all ten countries. And happily most are already on my TBR and most are tagged with the August tag (humor). So if you ever run across a country that you don't have a book for, I've got you covered!

Now I have several books that I have to finish before the game starts, so I better get back to reading (or finalizing my resume, which is what I really should be doing).

Hi Serenity! We've been teamed up for The Amazing Read on PBT - Woohoo!

We'll have to talk strategy. I'm going to be busy for the earlier part of Sunday, but should be available in the late afternoon/evening.

For the first round (England & China), I have books for both tags. But it would probably be better if I took England, as I can zip through a British regency romance like nobody's business LOL.
