Hmm... where to start? Never know what to say in these things... I'm a complete and total bookworm. Books are my comfort objects; I never go anywhere without one. A home without books (or a cat) is NOT a home! My son has his stuffed monkey, my daughter her blankie and I have my books. When my son asked me how much I love him and I told him I... more »

Hi, My new suspense novel LAKE CHARLES is set in the Smoky Mountains. Kindle now, paper (33% off for pre-sales orders) in June. Favorable review in Publishers Weekly. Sorry if this is a duplicate. Best, Ed Lynskey

hey... just remembered you were asking if I am setting any reading goals this year... well, last year I failed miserably... I read very little... I am desperately hoping to do better this year, but decided not to put a number on it, what I have done is put the books that I would like to read this year on my "wish list" shelf... I will be very lucky if I get to read them all... especially if I deviate from the list, already somebody has lent me a book to read and I felt like screaming "no! I have a plan and I'm sticking to it" but I know that's never going to happen... half of those books on my wish list shelf were on last years list... and already the first week of the year has gone, and I have only read a few pages of my current book... things are not looking good :( Well, signing off for the night... didn't get to the 4's... darn it all... it's late again, my eyes are so sore... and I have an earlier start at work in the morning (6am poor me, haha) so I had better get to bed, and write ya on FB tomorrow!!

No worries, I haven't been visiting shelfari as often as I could have. I'm in a bit of a reading stump!

I haven't read the sequel - is Mary in it at all? Not finding out what happened tp her after such a vague ending only to move straight onto her daughter would make me even more dissatisfied with the series!

If you're looking for your next YA genre fix, Isobelle Carmody's Obernewtyn series is a YA favourite of mine. Although it's a little stodgy in some places, it stayed in my head enough for me to read it again as an adult.

L J Smith has recently republished many of the great books she wrote in the 90s. The Night World series is entertaining, if a little light on plot turns. Dark Visions trilogy is a little darker and heftier. The Forbidden Game trilogy is a survival series, capturing the suspence and sincerity that Forest of Hands and Teeth lacked. Just describing it makes me want to buy it to read again!

Just read your review of the Forest of Hands and Teeth and you have summed up my own view completely! For a book with such a good premise, it was a shame at how fast it went downhill.

Thanks, I'll have to try it. If this was her first series, I can see where her first book would not have been her best. I think that my own writing improved when writing my second book. You do get more comfortable as you continue to write about the same characters also.
I'm reading a new author, Nicole Peeler now. So far I quite like it.
