Short stories by Theodore Sturgeon, my favorite "old school" SciFi author. Worth the read for "Shottle Bop" alone. Classic. My other favorites that are included: "The Other Man," "The Skills of Xanadu," "The Graveyard Reader." And of course, Sturgeon's introduction, dubbed "From Plynck to Planck." Although published in 1972, the stories in this book were all originally published between 1941 and 1962.

If you read the book as a vehicle to express values, it can be instructive. But the author has been criticized by the Aboriginal community of Australia, evidently admitted that the book is fictional rather than based on actual experience as she had been claiming. Then she went on to write more works based on Aboriginal thought and values. She has made a lot of money from these books, but I feel they are exploitative of Aboriginal culture without giving anything back, or indeed getting permission in the first place. So I cannot recommend this book in good conscious. I read it before learning about the controversy; had I known in advance I would never have read it.
