“This book should be called "Don Quixote's Response to The Windmill."”
“Sounds like a quote from The Shack!”
“Then Cowper is DANGEROUS, because God only works through the Bible according to you, and the Bible's all there in black and...”
“That's also the most captivating vision of God I have ever read - the one in the Bible, which I believe in wonderfully...”
“Oh, by the way, thank you for recommending the Bible. I read it all the time, but I am careful not to make an idol of it.”
“Coram: Really? Ever read The Last Battle? C.S. Lewis was an inclusivist. One man thought Tash was the true God and Aslan...”
“roxan: That's what is getting annoying about the debate. The "watchdogs" are like parasites: they swarm anywhere anything...”
“And the humorous thing is: The Narnia Chronicles have even worse theology than The Shack, from a reformed perspective. So...”

Hi Derek- I like your shelf selections! I see that you have read Eat This Book. We are discussing it on a blog, and thought I'd see if you wanted to join the discussion. http://4three4.blogspot.com/ Have you read Randy Frazee? He co-authored a book with Dallas Willard and wrote Making Room for Life, which has completely changed my life. Have a great day!

I know you are more than just a fan of THE SHACK, but that's what everyone seems to be posting about these days. :) I listened to the Paul Young interview I mentioned to you 3 weeks ago. It was one of the most beautiful, honest, and powerful interviews I've ever heard. While THE SHACK was a great story, in this case, the author's true story is even better than fiction! The interview's an hour long, but I don't think you'll regret the time spent listening! Find it at: http://www.drewmarshall.ca/listen2008.html#080426.

As a person raised in a very legalistic church, The Shack communicated to me such grace--freedom--a sense of being loved. I read your posts on the review page and appreciated your kindness to those who so vehemently disagreed with you and with The shack. My husband heard William P. Young at the seminary where he works part time. He said that he experienced him as a man of great honesty and great humility.
Hi Derek,I thought you might like to know that William P. Young was interviewed again on The Drew Marshall Show on April 26th. You'll be able to listen to the interview on the archives after this Friday (May 2nd). Go to www.drewmarshall.ca. In this interview he shares his own personal journey. I missed the interview live on the weekend, but am curious to hear about Young's spiritual journey. I think he and Mack share some struggles in common.

Derek,Yes...The Shack has been a book that resonates deeply with me. I plan to reread it several times...but right now shared it with my husband, so I have to wait for him to finish it.I enjoyed the freedom, sense of "fresh air" and space to experience God in His nearness. Such a sense of hope in that book.

I love your shelf. I hope to read some works by Brother Lawrence and St. Francis this year.

Dallas Willard is one of my favorites too. Have you read anything by Richard Foster?
