Did you like "The Shack"? I've had not particularly spiritual people tell me it's very good, inspiring etc. Please give me the real 411 on this one, I admit skepticism.
So glad to hear that McQ is still going so great for R. That's the best feeling after making a tough decision. W is having a really good start to the year. I think the work is challenging for him, but he seems to be embracing it and wanting to do well. Let's hope that continues. I heard an American Wife is quite good - - you have to tell me what you think. And yeah, I am just not participating in those political discussions, too ugly!!
Hey, we miss you around Play Book Tag!!! Please visit us soon :). We've got a neeewww tagggg. It's very enticing . . .I know you want to see what it is ....
lol ...on a more serious note, what brought you to AC the other day?? Hope all is still going great for R at McQ. I'm sure it is! Off to see what you are reading.
Starbucks after drop off is just perfect. I'm SO pleased to hear the good news about Rudy's first day and can't wait to hear DETAILS!!!
the 12th is great!!
I just dropped out of all the groups I was in that have political discussions going on. I can't read much more of them. I don't mind people having opposing views, but the lack of civility when presenting them or discussing them just makes me too mad.
I'm looking so forward to hearing our girl Palin speak tonight.
You're welcome! Thanks for accepting my friendship! I've not really cared one way or another about this election and then McCain named Palin and boy my dander got all riled up. My avatar is my almost 5 month old granddaughter Nalani Malia - Her name means Heaven's(Nalani) Mary(Malia). Her Dad is Samoan Thanks! I think she's quite adorable myself. :o)
HI!!!! I've been thinking about you frequently and missing you too. I'm dying to catch up with you. When can we get together? Not sure what your new schedule is like with Rudy at a new school. I could do anytime on the 12th, 15th, or 16th or 17th . . .
Welcome to Women Speak! Nice to see you there. Hope to get to know you better.
Peace ~ Andi
I've been a slug about keeping up with my shelf! Need to do better but am reading some interesting stuff. We did "The Razor's Edge" for book club last month and loved it. Read Sue Miller's "The Senator's Wife" and that was filled with juicy stuff from a female perspective. Reading a Jodi Picoult at the moment, but want to dive into a book called "March" soon that got great reviews. Hope you are well!
Oooh, I LOVE And Then There Were None - - haven't read it in forever, but totally remember it and how much I liked it. I definitely thought it was a page turner. William has to read The Hobbit. He doesn't much like fantasy so that's going over like a lead balloon so far. Sounds like Rudy has some pretty good summer reading.
This upcoming week is my last before my totally misguided attempt to do the half Ironman. I don't know why in the world I registered to do this. It has been a ton of hard work, and now I'm just all nervous about it. I'm definitely not doing this to myself again. It actually was a lot easier to train for the marathon last year . . .scary . . .
But the following week, my boys are both in camp so let's definitely try to grab some coffee!!
Hi there, you asked about Happiness Sold Separately - I have enjoyed both of Lolly Winston's books. They do have a 'sad' thread in them but turn out to be wonderful, enlightening reads. I would definitely recommend it ... Hope you enjoy it !
Hi M2R,
Just stopped by to see what you are reading, and your shelf tells me . . .NOTHING!! Ok, I'm not believing that for a second.
I'm working on Wicked. I'm so glad to see you liked it, as I generally agree with your taste. It seems like a lot of folks didn't . . .so far I think it's good, but I'm not too far along.
Hope your summer is going well and that you are getting some R&R.
xo

I'm from PBT and have an Africa recommentation for you! I see that you completed Infidel and, sticking with the non-fiction theme, I just finished Don't Let's Go To The Dogs Tonight by Alexandra Fuller. It wasn't as politically focused as it Infidel sounds but there were touches of the political situations. It was definitely an interesting story!
Hey thanks for the note. I loved map of the world! Thought it was a great book:) Thanks for the note:)
So sorry, M2R, I haven't watched LOST yet - - although goodness knows why because William was glued to it. I need to get on it!!
Yeah, I'm not really freaking out about reading so much. I just kinda relaxed a little now that we aren't a team anymore. I'll probably get eliminated pretty quickly cause my family will be here on Sunday. So I'll probably be reading next to nothing when they are here.
I read your stuff about LOST. I so agree it was a totally amazing episode! I recorded it so I might rewatch it again. I hate that I always forget things. We go such a long time between seasons that I forget half of what happened before. But I guess thats why the group is nice, people point out things I didn't notice (I do have a 3 year old!) and they remember things I forgot!
Happy reading now, M2R! Congrats on lasting so long :). I would have been out like week #1. Sigh. I'm frantically trying to finish Gone with the Wind, but am totally enjoying it so hate to rush it . . .
