    Welcome to Good Reads, Marianne. The group profile should give you some idea of how the group works, and the shelf provides a list of books we have read.

    For April, we read the Heretic's Daughter by Kathleen Kent and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak for May. For June we read and discussed The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco. Last month we read Anil's Ghost by Michael Ondaatje. This month we are reading and discussing The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

    Please feel free to post to any of the book discussions (old or new) and don't forget to vote for your favorite September candidate. We are glad you joined and want to encourage you to participate.

    Welcome to the group based on the book 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die.
    There is a general explanation of the group under the discussion thread GROUP GUIDELINES.
    The books of the month (BOTM) that the group is reading are pinned to the top. May BOTM have been;
    1. Choke by Palahniuk, Chuck, 2. Dr. Zhivago by Boris Pasternak 3. Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake 4. Works of Poe
    We are also starting something new. It will be a Long Read consisting of books from the list that are greater than a 1000 pages. The group will be starting with War and Peace by Tolstoy.
    June’s BOTM are The God of Small Things by Roy, Wide Sargasso Sea by Rhys and Midnight’s Children by Rushdie. I will post new discussion questions in June.
