Reading is enjoyable, relaxing, exciting, sensual; and sometimes takes us to places we dare not go. I live my life precariously through most of my books now, LOL! I read at least 3 to 4 books per week. Authors and Barnes and Noble love me!

I have 2 grown sons and 2 grandsons. My sons are ages 38 and 36. Grandsons are ages 6 and 2... more »

    Great!

I highly recommend it if you want to view the Israeli-Palestinian Issue from the Palestinian side.

I'm actually in two Joanne - Readers of Romance has the two I participate in: the (seasonal) Fall one is current, starts Sept. 1 through November 30; and each month there's one just to see if you can meet a goal you set for how many books you'll read that month. I seem to do best at ten, some can only do five, one lady does more than twenty. I love it, but it's probably not for everyone. there are other Challenges all over Shelfari.

Thanks for that suggestion - I was able to order Comance Heart from PBS; I already have Comanche Moon on my shelf. I'll be reading them later, though. Have to finish the ROR Summer Challenge and a few other books, first.

Joanne, that book (The Lady Elizabeth) was one suggested by a woman in UK, so I haven't read it yet. Just entered it as a TBR. Sorry. The Boleyn Inheritance was excellent - I've read so many of Philippa Gregory's books, and there's another I'll get once I'm back in MA (in early May) - The Other Queen, I believe it is. This UK woman seems to feel Gregory's books aren't as factual as she likes; they're fiction made from historical facts. That's fine with me, though - I get my smattering of history that way. Hope you enjoy the Boleyn one when you get to it. I saw the movie and of course, the book was far better. There is (because of whom we're dealing with) some "off-color" sex (incest, actually) in the story, but that's how life was in that time/royalty, etc.

Hi, Joanne - I've been browsing through my friends' sites and noting the books you guys have read. You are so lucky to have read three that you gave all those stars to! I say that because out of the last four I've read, only two have been good: one exceptional, the one I'm reading now is only okay. I'll probably be adding more (yours) to my pile of TBR's. Lots of those today.

My life here in FL is such a good one: friends, things to do, doing (or not doing) whatever I feel like - I love it, so I'll not complain. But it surely has been cold, for us - and tonight's supposed to go down to 20 degrees - terrible for these uninsulated places, as well as the people who aren't used to it. Plus, our clothes aren't intended for freezing weather. We'll survive - and each day brings us closer to a warmer time!

Yep - We had seven kids, raised six; one drowned when he was 10 (1967). Three boys now and three girls; ten grands and eight great-grands, 9 in March. Big group but we are close; they mostly live pretty close to me in MA. Noisy on my b'day! And yes, thank God for sons- but my girls are often just as wonderful, lots of love there. I'm blessed and I know it.

I live (from May-end of Oct.) in SE Mass. with one of my sons and his wife. The other six months I live in my own mobile home in central FL; trying to escape the northern cold but this year that's not working!

Hi, thanks for the invite - I accept! My Shelfari (or Yahoo) is giving me some trouble today, so I had to post a note differently than I would usually, sorry.
What's the NJ weather like? I'm ion FL right now, and it's too co-o-l-d tonight; last night was worse. We're not used to the 30s, 40's, etc. - and this year it's been that way. Days are pretty good, though; the sun knows how it's supposed to do its job then. Thank God. I'll be in the north in a couple of weeks for the Christmas holidays, so except for the warmth of family, I'll miss this place.
    Again, thanks for the invite.

I notice on one of your notes someone mentions Voyager by D. Gabaldon. Outlander is the first in that series, and it's one of my very favorites. A large book, but worth the reading. I've read five of that series twice and will be reading Outlander again this winter for the ROR Winter '08 Challenge.

No, it is still on my list of books to find. I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to really search for it. A lot has been happening in my family so my days have been spent with them.
