Hello Oh, it is so COLD outside today. Freezing! DRACULA: Hearts of Stone This MIGHT be a little like Dracula if written by J. K. Rowling. It’s a place where magic and vampires interweave for an exciting adventure. Dracula: HEARTS OF STONE A tale of magic, romance and fangs. We start with a shiny new pot of boiling water and add too many evil vampires, and not enough of the good biters. Toss in one suicidal Dracula; add a cup of mayhem and a dash of romance. Oh yes, and a pinch of mirth. Stir lovingly and you have a new novel by A. J. Gallant. If it sounds like the recipe for you then you must read Dracula: Hearts of Stone. OR"Madman in the Mirror" is a story about a man - Henry Johnson - who is raised by a psychopath and forced to watch - even as a baby - his father murder people on a regular basis. He is also abused and brainwashed, turning him into a sociopath. Henry stalks and murders people efficiently - he tells himself that he may be a killer, but he doesn't want people to suffer. He is haunted by hallucinations, including a specter in his mirror that talks to him. “A.J. is a master at creating word images that remain with the reader long after the book is finished.” Richard S. Friedman
Hi,I see you like historical romances too. If you're interested, check out my historical romance group. Among other things, I have a "quizzes" post and an "Upcoming Releases" post.http://www.shelfari.com/groups/74957/about
Hi Linda, My new suspense novel LAKE CHARLES is set in the Smoky Mountains. Kindle now, paper in June. Favorable review in Publishers Weekly. Best, Ed Lynskey
I haven't read Amanda Scott before - just checked out some of her books - they sound good.. thanks for the suggestion!
Hello :) I saw your comment on "Master of the Highlands" by Veronica Wolff about Scottish romances with time travel and wishing there was more with everyone in the same century.... and thought hmm I wonder if she has read Julie Garwood's Highland Historicals? The Bride, The Secret, Ransom and Saving Grace,The Wedding - all good books.
I want to check out this Shortest Distance book! Thank you!
You'll enjoy the series! Good for you....I loved Animal Trees. Have you read her foodie book? Blessings!
Linda,I'm the same way...glad you like the Martinelli series! You will have to back up and start at the beginning of that series. The stand alone books like Keeping Watch are amazing too. Couldn't live without reading!
She does two series...the Kate Martinelli series and the Mary Russell series...I like both but really lvoe the Mary Russell series...first one is Beekeeper's Apprentice...has also done some fine stand alone novels...Keeping Watch among them.
That way it is less pressure, I always thought that they (the rest of the members) would be upset if you didn't read the selections. It is good that you all have more or less the same interests.
You are in for a good weekend of reading ;-} I have not read any of the ones you mentioned below, so will have to check them out. Let me know how you like Kris Radish, the are a fun light read but with good friendships portrayed..I am not in a book club, which I always thought I would like, but then decided that there are too many books I want to read and didn't necessary want to read the ones that don't interest me.
I haven't read any Joy Fielding books although I think I did take one from your shelf. I read Little Princes and I loved it. I read a lot of non fiction. Hope you enjoy kris Radish.
Hi Linda, I enjoyed looking through your shelf and took a few for my wishlist. I didn't see any books on your shelf by Kris Radish, I think you might enjoy her, all of her stories are about a group of women friends, but my favorite was "Annie Freeman's Fabulous Travelling Funeral".
Thank you very much, Linda! I'm always int he amrket for good titles, especially with humor. have you ever read the Laurie King books (mary Russell series)? I also moderate a group on Laurie King...let me know what you think. It's called the Laurie King Mystery Lovers
Linda, so do I....I also love the Sunny Randall series. I grew up watching John Wayne westerns with my stepdad, so enjoy the westerns. have you seen the movie version of Appaloosa? very good.
Linda- thanks for the recommendations. I have already added them to my library request lists. Heading to the beach in 2 weeks, so I am stocking up! Last year I read almost a book a day while on vacation! Love it. My current favorites are The Help and Under the Overpass, if you are looking for some ideas.
LOL....I love gardening too. I have former students who are now married to each other and living in Baltimore. And I adore hostas! i have a shady backyard so they work well there. More later....blessings, Cynthia
How did your speech go, Linda? My dad wa sin Toastmasters years ago, such a good organization! Power to you. I willc heck out Gabaldon.
I think my best day is the same as yours, except it would be dogs (allergic to cats, unfortunately). Thank you for your kind note. I too am still sad about his death.
LINDA, I just started reading Wild Zone (about 100 pages into it). I don't like any of the characters so far. My question is: Should I finish reading this book?
