I've been away too long. I've missed my Shelfari friends and can't wait to catch up on what everyone is reading. :-)

Lisa, good to hear from you. I've got a couple of news things to start reading: a new John Connolly, THE REAPERS, and a Dan Jenkins, THE FRANCHISE BABE. Just fun stuff. I'll let you know how they are. Hope your summer is going well.

Hey Lisa- I'm glad you are doing well. Maybe going home to TN will be a nice respite. I would guess NM is very hot this time of year-unless you are in the mountains. I am reading "Rebecca" by Daphne du Maurier. I am struggling with it mightily- boredom mostly- I've always been told that the ending is incredible and to hang in there. Nothing much else, but I'm looking forward to the presidential race- I am supporting Obama. Talk to you soon, Jason

Hi Lisa- How is your reading going. I see that you are a Toni Morrison fan. I have read "Song of Solomon" and "The Bluest Eye" and I liked both equally well. I just finished reading "The Bean Trees" by Barbara Kingsolver and am also reading "Palace Walk" by Naguib Mahfouz. What are you working on?

are you reading "The Monkey Wrench Gang" by any chance? I read it a couple of years ago and really liked it. What state do you live in? (if you don't mind me asking). I live in South Carolina 3 hours East of Atlanta, GA...take care

Just wanted to say hi and I hope your current reading is fulfilling and you are benefiting from the suggestions of others with different ideas. I am reading "Amsterdam" by Ian McEwan- pretty decent at the halfway point. Take care- Jason

I recently read something you might enjoy, Go With Me, by Castle Freeman. It's a Northwoods Gothic, if there is such a thing, very short, and terse, it would make a wonderful film for the Cohen Brothers. A one evening read, it's a gem. This is a book that you might not happen across, that is a masterpiece of style, both humorous, and shocking. It's a sparse tale that allows your imagination to fill in the blanks.

    Hi Lisa-
Thanks for the Easter greetings. I read a good bit of Thomas Wolfe yeterday, but I had a family get together today, so the reading has been kind of slow. Talk to you soon. Jason

    Hi Lisa-
I think you have a good idea in making friends with those who have differ in their reading than you do so there could be a mutual exchange of ideas of books to read. There is something to be said for similarities, too so we can discuss what we have read with others. I noticed that you just added LOLITA to your read books list. I read the book about six weeks ago and took a lot away from it- I though that it had a very original plot. I watched the 1997 movie with Jeremy Irons and Dominique Swain- I thought that he and she caught the intricacies of Humbert Humbert and Lolita well respectively. I would like to see the 1962 Kubrick original film. I have never completed another book by Nabakov, but have given ADA, OR ARDOR a try a couple of times unsucessfully. What are your thoughts?
