Hi, Have you tried Sophie Hannah? I think she's kind of a mixture of Carol Goodman and Tana French. Her book The Dead Lie Down has an interesting art element to it. (It is #4 in a series, but I didn't know that when I read it.) Your shelf is very similar to mine! christina
Thanks for the info!
Hi, I started reading Charles de Lint's Memory and Dream after seeing it on your shelf, but now I'm confused about which book of his I should read next. Do the books set in Newford need to be read in order? Do any of the characters carry over? It looks like you've read most or all of them, what would you suggest? Thanks!
I keep looking at The Historian. I'll see if Audible.com has it. Thanks!
I love your book selections! Which would be the first recommendation of the top of your head? I'm looking for my next Audible.com download. Thanks for sharing!Michele
I think the Alchemist - was a good idea - but I didn't like that he had to "be told" what his "legend" was - and ultimately it turned out to be "treasure" rather than something more noble like love, trught or beauty. I also wonder -- well what will he do now - He is a young boy and found his "legend" - seems like he has the same problem as the crystal shop keeper that didn't want to go to Mecca.Anyway -- I'm really excited to hear you'll check out hubby's book. I really do think it is good - I try to evaluate it with a pretty critical eye. The series starts out - simple mind candy -- but as it goes along the characters grow and evolve in some really great ways. And I have to say when I turned the last page on the final book - I went WoW!! -- In fact I told him I couldn't believe he wrote it .. LOL. But seriously it was the best series I ever read and she surprised me which I didn't think he could do since I've been with him over 28 years. About your Avatar - well even if you didn't do it - it still is very nice. My daughter is an artists - gives me an idea that maybe I should have her make me one.Talk to you soon - and let me know what you think of Michael's book when you are done with it.Robinrobin.sullivan.dc@gmail.comMedieval fantasy series: The Crown Conspiracy (Oct 2008), Avempartha (April 2009)Upcoming Book Signings at: http://www.michaelsullivan-author.com/MichaelSullivan_Signings.html

Hi Sandi!Hum...I tried to read The Gargoyle, but found it off putting...might not pick it back up but since I bought the book I will hold onto it for now to see if I can develop a stronger stomach! Just a warning...it is pretty graffic, but I have heard that if you delve into it and get past that part of the book it becomes a good story.I loved the Twilight Saga! One thing I would recommend is to remember when you read it that it was written for young adults. If found them to be quite like potato chips...just read one after the other which took all of about 2 weeks for all 4 books! Very light reading but fun and interesting storyline.I am just getting into The Historian and so far I like it but I haven't gotten into the meat of the story yet as I am only on page 35.Sepulchre is a fantastic book and I would recommend it to everyone that likes dual time period books...did you read her other book Labyrinth yet? There is one setting that appears in both books and it made me wish I had read Labyrinth first just to see how the setting develops through time. I like Kate Mosse's writing and the way she blends the two story lines...really good story.
Hi SandiNice to see you here. I forgot about Anne Rice books I read ages ago. SHe sure can make your skin crawl, but she's hard to put down!!CheersGwynn
