Hi! We are in Goa now - settling down here at least for the next 2 years. The last couple of weeks have been pretty chaotic with our stuff arriving and trying to get organized. It's work in progress...as a result haven't read much at all. Am reading 'Reading Lolita in Tehran' at the moment - it's not my usual cup of tea, but quite interseting especially now that I've made it to the last chapter where she discusses Austen. Will get back to serious reading soon though now that my books are on their shelves :)

Hi! Have moved back and am now in Bombay. I see you're reading The Book Club - is it good? Also wanted to share this book I picked up yesterday - The Diary of a Social Butterfly by pakistani author Moni Mohsin. It's such a riot!! Written in hinglish, totally irreverent and tummy-achingly funny :) Read it for the laughs!

Thanks I lived in Saudi Arabia for 5 years and enjoy reading books about women in the middle east. I also enjoy politics as proven by my shelf. This year I wanted to read some of the classics. Best wishes and happy reading.

I didn't like the book much. I enjoyed the movie though - which is quite rare for me. I never like movie versions of books usually, but I actually bought this one on DVD! It has a great cast, you should watch it if you get a chance. Wow - so you're in more than one bookclub? That's fabulous. I will be moving back home to Goa soon - so at the moment am on a serious book-buying spree for myself, but mostly for my son! I've just finished two more books in the No.1 lady's Detective series and have re-read The Scarlet Pimpernal & The Secret Garden - both childhood favourites. You should read The Book Thief by Mark Zusak and The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, if you haven't already - both very good books :) What are you reading for the bookclub?

Hahaha...been there too - in love with Darcy that is and will stay in love with Colin Firth as Darcy forever!! Have you watched the BBC's Pride & Prejudice? Your daughter is one lucky girl :) Yes I have a son, also 14 months. Have just spent a magical afternoon in the children's section of Kinokuniya (my fave bookstore in Singapore). have spent a fortune on the Eric Carle books, but they are so worth it! Are they available in India? He's such a great illustrator and story teller - you should get some for your daughter :) Also found another childhood favourite - The Scarlet Pimpernel and bought that for me :P

We sail in the same boat :) I have all her books and know most of them by heart - not kidding :P Have read T & T - love Tuppence, I think if I were ever a detective (one can dream!) I would be like her - impulsive and a nose for trouble ;-) I read Child 44 after Bastard of Istanbul - didn't really like it much - dark & violent crime story. Reading Mr. Knightley's Diary @ the moment. It's a light read and I like Jane Austen a lot. Are you a fan?

Hello, we have a few books in common. I see a few of Dame Agatha's books on your shelf :) I'm a huge fan, Hercule Poirot is my favourite detective of all time! You should read Murder of Roger Ackroyd if you haven't yet - it's one of her best. My name is Harsha and I'm a paediatrician.

Welcome to 1001 books. You can keep track of the books you have read from the book, 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die here and join in the discussions on the books we are reading for the month (from the book) or you can argue the merits of the list as some enjoy doing. We hope you will want to join in our discussions. The current books are at the top of the list for that month. If there is any way I or Mossflower can answer your questions about the group or about Shelfari, let us know.
If you don’t own the book the list can be found http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm?content_id=22845. A downloadable list of the second edition is available at http://johnandsheena.co.uk/books/?page_id=160.
