At 60 years of age, I have succeeded in my midlife goal of becoming one superb curmudgeon. It's fun, believe me. However I do love to read all sorts of things.I read all sorts of things. lately it is cyberpunk which has led to a renewal of my love for science fiction, fantasy and horror and many blends of the three. In those genres, I find that... more »

I saw that you posted in a discussion about A Million Little Pieces, but couldn't trace back to what you were commenting on. I also couldn't find it on your shelf...you have a LOT of books, so it was hard to sift, but I sorted by title and author and didn't see it. Have you read it?

thank you for responding to my inquiry about The Second Sex. Even though I am an avid reader, there are just so many books and so little time. I work at a bookstore so I'm constantly buying books even though I have at least 20 waiting for me already in my room.

Dad. 600 books? I was impressed with myself for having 200! Although, if I'm 25, and already have 200, I should be surpassing you in no time!

    Hi Jim,
Thank you for another very helpful and informative response to my book questions. I really enjoy Barbara Ehrenreich's writing style and admire her courage and insights into the dark side of capitalism. The sad thing is even working people with decent incomes are just one disaster away from financial ruin. I will definitely check out Bait and Switch.

It makes sense that Night Sins might be part of a pair of connected books. The movie ended wide open; there is so much more to do/say.
Agree she's not a horror author. At least not based on what I saw. (And Stephen King isn't a Stephen King any more either.) :-)

Hello. Thanks for your response to my Teri Hoag question. I just saw a miniseries today based on her book Night Sins and I really liked it. (Of course, Valerie Bertinelli was in it and can't do much wrong.) I love a good mystery. I'll check her out.
    Thanks again.
