This book has the capacity to make our conscience into a sponge greedy of knowledge, of love for the near one, of gentleness, of peace. The tranquillity what it transmits worries since we know that we are imprisoned to our human condition. But, it is an intelligent alert about which it might be if all wanted.

A realistic, sensitive and violent book about a very specific historical period, in Lisbon, which affected thousands of persons and about which still today the city resents.

This book and the movie based on it, carried out by Otto Premminger, are of an enormous complexity. The form as it boards any not much healthy familiar aspects, the adolescence in the 50´s, and the society of rotten values, is excellent. I recommend.

This book marked my life. It changed my perspective on the reality, on the inner conflict of the person and the respective captures of conscience.
