Novels are my favorite books to read. I am enjoying the fruits of reading lots of different things (as well as learning to be ok with not finishing books that lose me). Some of my favorite authors are Steinbeck, Quindlen, Vonnegut, Lamb and Dostoevsky. I love the momentum of the process of going from "getting into" a book to being "almost done".
