"Madman in the Mirror" is a story about a man - Henry Johnson - who is raised by a psychopath and forced to watch - even as a baby - his father murder people on a regular basis. He is also abused and brainwashed, turning him into a sociopath. Henry stalks and murders people efficiently - he tells himself that he may be a killer, but he doesn't want people to suffer. He is haunted by hallucinations, including a specter in his mirror that talks to him. “A.J. is a master at creating word images that remain with the reader long after the book is finished.” Richard S. Friedman Murder, romance and the paranormal. It is sprinkled with humor. Also contains ghosts, a dog that’s adopted by Henry and a crazy hooded merganser duck. And a baby as his arch enemy. “It held me spellbound and at attention all through the story.” “Fascinating peek in the mind of a serial killer.” “A most imaginative and brilliant book.”
Pls join me. Thanks, Jalaj
Thanks Tracy. I'll keep an eye out for the Ann Brashares book. I really liked her last book.
Hola Tracy...thanks for being my friend on shelfari! Now I get to be nosy and see what you are reading. :) Any new recommendations?
Welcome to 1001 books. You can keep track of the books you have read from the book, 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die, join in the discussions on the books we are reading for the month (BOTM) or you can debate the merits of the list as some enjoy doing. We hope you will want to join in the choosing of BOTM and the discussions. The current books are pinned to the top for that month. There are older discussions that can be found by searching discussions. If there is any way the group administrator can help further feel free to ask one of us. If you don’t own the book the list can be found at the top in the group description or at http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm?content_id=22845. A downloadable list of the second edition is available at http://johnandsheena.co.uk/books/?
I will check it out. I have read her books but I can't remember what they were. I am reading Eclipse right now. So far so good.
Hailey will be 13 in August. Hard to believe. She likes almost all vampire books. Of course, there are some I read that she shouldn't read. She is going to start a collection of them. At least one of my grandkids read. I will let her know what you said.
Tracy, surprisingly I like them. I have only read the first two but intend to read the others as soon as they are available in paperback. Hailey has read them all. She is really into the vampire novels. She has read 7 of the Cirque du Freak novels by Darren Shan. I think that is who wrote them. I even liked the movie Twilight. The only thing that I really did not like about the vampires in the books was the way they shine when they get into the sun. That just isn't right. I am really into the Charlaine Harris novels. They are really good. There is about 9 or 10 of them.
I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts on Windmills. Thanks for your nice note.
Thank you for accepting my friend request (and for your wonderful review of Love in the Present Tense).
Tracy, is the movie Twilight, that comes out next month, based on the Twilight books that I have seen at the store? I almost bought one today but wasn't sure. Did you read them and are they adult books? I read somewhere that they were young adult novels. I don't read those. Do you have HBO? There is a vampire series on every Sunday called True Blood. It is based on Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series. The show is very good. I am totally hooked on it. I want to read the books and I have them on my Xmas list. I can almost bet that I will not get them. I never get anything I ask for, and I am not hard to please. But once in a while....... Talk to you later.
No, I have not read the Midnight Breed books yet. I want to but don't know when I will.
TRacy. these books were on your shelf yesterday but now I can't find them. It seems that Kiss of Midnight may have been one of them and there were several others that went with it. I mainly read romance vampire novels. I have read almost all of the Christina Feehan (I think that is her fist name). They are good. Linda Lael Miller's were the best I have ever read. I am going to add them to my shelf if I can remember how to do it. Thanks.
Tracy, are these vampire books good? I love to read them. Are they romance or horror? Are they paperback or hardback? I want to read the new Lori Handeland books. They are about werewolves and there are about seven in the series so far. The titles all have moon in the title. I love her as an author anyway and I love vampires and werewolves.
I've read three Catherine Anderson's books so far: My Sunshine, Blue Skies, Sunkissed. I've have Simply Love on my list. I've read Roque's Salute in January, have Roan next on my list, and will get to try to read that in the future. My book list is full for the year.
BY the way, hi and you're welcome. :-)
I recommend Chill Factor. I'm sure Smoke Screen will be great for a romantic suspense. I've read Catherine Anderson, Danielle Steel for romance-just started Jennifer Blake for historical.
hey thank you for your reply.happy reading!
