I'm SO happy to see that you loved Wednesday Wars as much as I did! I can't wait to borrow Lizzie! See you Monday! Can't wait!
I don't think anything has been decided, but I have a feeling about it. I'm getting started just in case - the first 20 pages were successfully read today!
And the Ladies of the Club - of course!! What other 1100 page book would I be planning out a reading strategy for? I'm NOT subbing for Bryson Wednesday - I'm playing racquetball! I'm subbing for her on the 18th so we're playing on the 17th - work for you?
I have it figured out - 20 pages a day, 5 days a week...finish in mid-January. Starting Monday - good luck!
So how come you've never mentioned this "Shiver" book to me before???? Sounds good. Can I borrow it?
I didn't know you read Sarah's Key. I didn't recommend it to you, did I? I had a lot of issues with that one. Talk about a main character that had a rough life and just couldn't get over it, even when good things came her way. I think I just compared her too much with the characters in The Book Thief.
I am interested to see your review of The Boy in Striped Pajamas. I can't seem to get it to come up so I'll just ask you instead. I didn't love it, but it looks like you did...what did you like about it?
So I read Diary of a Wimpy Kid today - it took me about an hour and a half & here I am almost 5 hours later still laughing. I'm even making my non-reader husband read this one. I think it's probably funnier when you're an adult than when you're a kid!
I haven't started Hunger Games yet, but from what I hear it's wonderful & very hard to put down. I was asked to tell you THANKS for the recommendation!
So...you gave "Here Be Dragons" and "Ella Minnow Pea" the same rating? Really????? Surely that was an oversight. Let me help you - "Ella Minnow Pea"...5 Stars, "Here Be Dragons"...2 Stars. There. I feel better now. Don't you?
Thanks! I hope to have some time to read real soon. With the kids home from school we are a little busy. I will have to check out your books better when I have time. Happy New Year!
Racquetball during the break? The only day I'm NOT available to play is Thursday (and that's just because the rec. center is closed!). Seriously - I will play every day if you want to! How's tomorrow?
FYI: I just saw a list of recommended reading for kids by the author of my current favorite series (you know, the Percy Jackson series starting with "The Lightning Thief") and he recommends "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." All I know is: if he likes it it's got to be good. (Do you think I'm putting too much trust in some guy just because I love his books? Oh well!)
We missed you Friday! Did you finish the Woman in White? Are you up for racquetball tomorrow?
I'm looking at your shelf where you gave Harry Potter 7 a 3-star rating, and Hallelujah a 2-star rating. Is that for real? How are you doing with "The Woman in White"? I really love it - I just hope I can finish it by Friday!
Okay - last one tonight - Charlie Bone, (did he ever do that one?) The Sisters Grimm is wonderful & LOTS of boys in a class I've been in say it's their favorite series. Also, don't forget about the Narnia series. Okay - those are my ideas.
Has he read Andrew Clements??? He'd like ALL of those!
I was very pleasantly surprised by "My teacher is an alien" and I'd like to read the rest of the series. Whangdoodle is a single book, but it's great! I think he'd like both of those. I'll get back with you on more recommendations tomorrow. I'm SO GLAD you're here now! I'm glad we went to the movie - no regrets, but I'd like to read the book again to bring back the magic!
SO --- how about that David Copperfield? I took "I Am Legend" back today - it was due with a waiting list...do you recommend it?
Just so you know - I don't like that I'm sitting home on shelfari when I should be on the court!
