Oh, I've been hearing about the cold. I have family in New England - cold and icy; and a son in Colorado, VERY cold too. We, on the other hand, are experiencing a very nice warm spell and it has been nearly 80 for the past two days. I work full-time though and don't get to enjoy all of it. I'm hoping to get out in the garden this weekend before it turns cold again (we did have a short cold - for FL - spell earlier this month).
Obviously I also had a cat who looked a little like Dewey; that's him in my avatar, he just wasn't so fluffy. I hope you get a chance to finish the story. I suspect you can also appreciate the rescue of the Dewey from the cold!
I've just finished The Thirteenth Tale which I greatly enjoyed. The author is poetic in her language and I highly recommend it. I've also got Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver on the top of my favorites for this year. Since 20% of the books on your shelf are also on my shelf, I feel confident recommending books to you!
By the way, your comment about standing in Barnes and Noble reminds me of what happened when the B&N opened in our area. My husband and I had gone out to dinner and I had a 2 for 1 glass of wine. Then we went to check out the new B&N and I kept whispering "go to the library." My husband had to get me out of there. Of course I know that we have to have bookstores and sell books too but promoting the library is in my blood! :-)
