I'm an author. The new-improved edition of my first book, CHURCH OF THE DOG was released in May of 2008. Be sure to read that and not the other edition. ON THE DIVINITY OF SECOND CHANCES will be out in paperback in April of 2009. My first new book in five years, HOW I CAME TO SPARKLE AGAIN will be released about a year after that.

    I saw your note on my phone, and I am waiting for food to come out of the oven, so I can't get on Facebook yet to reply to your message because FB is a black hole from which it is hard to extract myself. But I just wanted to come on here quickly to tell you thank you from my deepest heart for all your good wishes and for all your positive energy and good ideas regarding promoting AS IT WAS WRITTEN. I will absolutely begin with your novel you consider your best one and I will look forward to getting your signature on it to. I will look for it in Hardback, as those are my guilty pleasures and it will be a great joy to have a signature on a hardback of your novel.     WAIT!! YOU are Kaya McLaren who reviewed my book!!!!!! Karyn just gave me your address so I could send you a note!! I just saw your little Kaya6 the little "login" thing next to this window that said 3 people had my book, and ONE is my good friend, and the other two were little codes for people I didn't know and I had no idea while I wrote you that friendship request message!! HI! I am so flabbergasted that was you. When I clicked to see your page and I saw your name, I flipped to my email inbox to make sure I wasn't getting the name wrong!Thank you so much for all your support of my novel, I am so grateful to you for your kindness and your generosity of spirit.     I just read your book and loved it!!!! I'm a high school librarian and I can relate to Mara's feelings--why do I do this to myself when I can quilt and create new designs out of fabric? But then a student comes in and says thank you in their own way or excitedly tells me about a book and I remember "Oh yeah". Thanks for writing such a great book. Can't wait for the next one.

    Thanks for accepting my friendship request, Kaya! Regarding Forever by Judy Blume, did you also see the TV movie they made of it back in the day? I was probably in junior high then! I thought it was great at the time. Thanks for the book suggestions. I will definitely keep them in mind. :-)

    Hi Kaya! I just finished reading Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen - fantastic book! I was reading other Shelfari member reviews on it, which brought me to your shelf. You have a great selection of books on your shelf, most of which I now want to read, including the books that you have written yourself! What a wonderful accomplishment.     YOU ROCK!!!! Love to see that you remember me for fun stuff like this. Right now I am reading Zorro by Isabel Allende and love it. Makes me feel like a passionate, wild, and free spirit. Just finished Into the Wild by John (can't remember the last name) (now a motion picture). Finished it in 1 day. Glad we are here together and can't wait to see you sometime soon.

    Hi Kaya! So good to be in touch with you again. The latest book that I read and loved was, "Eat, Love, Pray" by Elizabeth Gilbert. Since I am now working in the library, I can name many,many children's books that I love. I have of course read your first two books and especially loved your second one. Can't wait to see your new one.
