I remember watching both Emma and Sense and Sensibility about 10 years ago. I preferred Emma, so that may be the next one I try. Good luck finishing up the Thursday Next series - whenever you get back to it!
Hi! I finally read Pride and Prejudice a few weeks ago! I actually ended up quite liking it. I will probably try another Jane Austen at some point, even. How are you doing with your Fforde books?
I'm taking a Fforde break now, too. I guess I read The Eyre Affair so long ago now, that I really don't remember enough to compare the alternate England world to the Jurisfiction world, so that didn't bother me in the least! ;-)
Oops! Sorry it accidentally posted twice. The first time it didn't appear to be doing anything, so I thought I must not have clicked Post after all. Apparently I did, so you've got my message twice (unless you delete one!). :-)
Finished reading The Fourth Bear. You've read both Nursery Crimes books, right? I didn't like this one as much as the first. But, I will read the 3rd someday when it comes out as well. There is supposed to be a 3rd one eventually!
So now, I just need to read the last Thursday Next novel (First Among Sequels), and I'm all caught up!
Too bad there's not another Nursery Crimes book, but that's not to say there won't be one! You're right about jumping around in other books. Of course, most of them are classics - which I am just not that excited about reading (so I haven't!)! The Fforde books are still fun, though.
Thanks about the picture. I suppose I'll change it again eventually - likely to another shot of the two of them! ;-)
Hi!!! How are you doing? I just wanted to pop by to let you know that I am in the middle of reading The Well of Lost Plots. As I look at your list above, it looks like you've now read The Eyre Affair and Lost in a Good Book, and are also currently reading Well of Lost Plots? Wow! The timing's funny! :-) Did you end up reading Jane Eyre before picking up the Thursday Next series?
As soon as Lost Plots is done (should be tomorrow), The Fourth Bear is next in line. I guess after that I'll have to find out the title of the 5th Thursday Next novel. There's a 3rd book in the Nursery Crimes series, too, isn't there?
I never read Jane Eyre (but I don't know if I could...that 19th century fiction, I'm not too sure about...), but I still enjoyed The Eyre Affair. However, I do suspect that you will enjoy it more if you have read Jane Eyre. I'm sure that why I enjoyed The Big Over Easy more. Up to you, though... If you want to read J.E. anyway, good choice to read it first, I think.
Hi! The Eyre Affair is the first one. I did read that one first, but I was recently checking the order online, and I think I may have read them out of order. Oops!
I believe the second one is Lost in a Good Book, then The Well of Lost Plots (which I haven't yet read), and Something Rotten (which I read 2nd - oops!). I believe there is a 5th book, but I don't recall the title off the top of my head.
Enjoy!
And just finished The Big Over Easy. I liked it better than the Thursday Next books that I've read, probably because I get the nursery rhyme references more. I will definitely pick up the second book - The Fourth Bear. Have you read it as well?
So Chris - I just finished reading Lost in a Good Book (one of the Thursday Next series), and am starting The Big Over Easy... Are there just two books in the Nursery Crimes series so far?
Sounds fair to me! Not sure when I'll get to it, but I'll try for soon. I'll let you know once I'm done (well, once I'm done the first one anyway!). How many are in the series?
So I looked a little closer and see that you have lots of cat books on your shelf...nice! I also noticed a couple of Jasper FForde books...I've read a few, just not the same ones (though one you have on your shelf is on my handwritten To Read list, so it will be read, hopefully sooner rather than later (The Big Over Easy).
Hi Chris! So, I was just comparing my shelf with those of my friends - the few I have one shelfari, and I discovered we have a grand total of ONE book in common! LOL! I just thought that was slightly amusing... Oh - it's Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, if you're wondering.
Hi Chris! I'm the moderator for Play Book Tag, and I apologize for not popping by sooner to welcome you and to thank you for joining. I was on vacation! I am enjoying browsing your shelf as we only have ONE title in common. I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't read a single Alexander McCall Smith book . . .you'll have to tell me one of your favorites to add to my TBR list. At any rate, we are starting a new tag very soon for March, and I hope you'll come by and join in the fun! We've got a great group of very friendly members :).
