I saw your note on Anne Frank and questioning The Book Thief - I'm going to recommend something a little odd - Wicked. I think a good parallel with the idea of Nazis. It's about the questioning and relativity of evil and good. There are some particullarly good examples in the definition of "A"nimals and "a"nimals which allows the citizens of Oz to justify the ill treatment and scientific experiment.

You're very welcome. I think that would be a suitable book for 8th graders, with some good discussion opportunities for comparing the experiences of two young girls during the war.

Hmm... It's the first in a science fiction trilogy he wrote. I enjoyed it and think you might as well because it was much more like Narnia than Star Wars in the sense that the emphasis was on the organic elements of another world, not the space ships and such.

Even if you didn't like it, the book is short (haven't started the 2nd book yet)...

For "The Alchemist"..Its must for every reader as its all about human being's dreams and destiny and how to realize it. Of course, the finest book I've read ever. But, dont read it as a story or novel, just read it ony if you are ready to think on your life. Its worth reading.

No problem :) The order of the books is Tithe, Ironside, and Valiant
The thing is though Ironside dosn't have all the same main characters but you have to read that book to understand Valiant where the main characters from Tithe come back in. Hope I helped :)

How do you like the book so far?? I LOVE IT, but I am only a few pages into it. If you google Oprah's Book Club it will bring u to her page and Love in the time of Cholera was the last book she did, I think. There's background info on the author, discussions and reading questions...good stuff!
