Thanks Judy, I'll look up The Coldest War. I might have grabbed The Coldest Winter from your shelf? By the time I get around to reading books from my huge wish list stack, I often forget who tipped me off in the first place. Snowing like mad in Chicago. How are the Mint Hills of NC? Dave

    Hey Judy,
You commented on my list of memoirs (of ordinary people).
If I still have them, you are welcome to barrow any you would like.
Some I have some I have gotten rid of.
Let me know and we can exchange addresses.
Some of these are hard to find.

Feel better. Keep stretching and moving around. I'll look up your recomondation. I look forward to it. I just started Kabloona. I normally wait, but my first impression is pretty strong. It is wonderfully written with a nice relaxed pace. For someone who has traveled as extensively as you have, this might be just the ticket for a winter read.

Judy, I am so glad that you've read and enjoyed "Zeitoun." I hope you'll post a comment on The Bibliophile Club book-of-the-month thread for September. The discussion there is still active; I think some members have just now tracked down a copy of the book. Darra

Great! That is what Shelfari is all about. I think I've checked out 8 new books the past week and they all look really good. I have 14 more on hold. When you see all these boxes of new books coming in every day it's hard to pass them up.

Hi Judy, Is the Natalie Wood bio you're reading a new one? I've read one or two, but this one is unfamiliar to me. "Splendor in the Grass" was my favorite of all her movies. I've always had a taste for the "bittersweet." (Drives my younger sister crazy!) Darra

I had back surgery 6 years ago, the year Grace was born. I wanted to be an active dad and my back was becoming a big pain. It is much better since the surgery. The first year after surgery was rough. Stay with the program and stay active. The last book I loved was "The Greatest Show on Earth." If you are into evolution, this is a pretty powerful read. Here is the hit list of 4-5 stars from this year. Please return the favor when you can. I always love your picks!

Thanks for asking about Gracie. In short, she is doing terrific. This month marks one full year NED off program.
I'll add Gracie's link for the full update. www.caringbridge.org/visit/gracegaston

Frost / Nixon / David Frost

    Rocket Men / Craig Nelson

    Hi Judy,
I thought Frauen was really interesting. Quite a different perspective. I was impressed by how articulate and thoughtful the German women were. I'll keep my eyes open for Lucky. Hope things are well with you!
