Sounds awesome. We are actually looking at doing some mission work starting in July. Looking at some possibilities around the big city. We have become extremely dissapointed with the direction of bailout nation and are working with another family to pool our resources. The new baby will be turning one year old by then and should be ready for an adventure. Do you have a facebook site? Check mine out at carsandkids@hotmail.com for pictures of the kids. I don't have your email. Are you aware of my Mom's cancer? She just finished her 5th treatment. Doing pretty good but it's liver cancer and they don't have a cure yet. Still has all her hair so she's happy about that. Caqn't imagine how happy Mike must be to be out of the financial oversite business in times like these. Saw Mark Sinner the other day and asked about you guys, but he said he hadn't heard much. Do the kids come and visit? Have to feed the baby. Will stay in touch.

    Hello Alice!
Enjoy the SUN while it shines we had our frst bout with snow this past week, only four inches (gone the next day) but fun for the grandkids, no snow day from school but they got to build a snowman and throw snowballs at each other. I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been sick with a cold from my grandkids! Both of us our sick, gotta love the grandkids and their runny noses. Our daughterhas finally made it home from Tennessee, I am happy she is here. To celebrate her arrival we are going to see the TWILIGHT movie tonight with my niece. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving day in the sun and warm weather. Almost forgot thanks for the tip on the book sounds interesting. Chat soon, Gayle

    Alice,
It was great to hear from you. This election should be very interesting for everyone. I bet your looking forward to November 6th!!! Please enjoy a good book for me, in the sun and warm air, I should be jealous and probably will be when it gets really cold and snows here. Even though I enjoy snow days for curling up with a book and cup of tea. (To each our own.) I am currently reading Candace Bushnel new book ONE FIFTH AVENUE, it is very good and hope to finish it in a day or two and start reading THE OTHER QUEEN, my to be read pile grows daily, just thinking of all the books I would like to read sometimes makes me shiver. But I will meddle on always. Happy Reading and do have fun in the sun.

I can see that it has been some time since you were on the site, I have been busy with the gandkids and reading of course. I just purchased the Sookie Stackhousr series by Charlaine Harris, I had intended to give them to my daughter in Tennesse for X-mas but since the show came on HBO (True Blood) I am hooked and will probably read them myself, then I will let her borrow them. I am adding to my TO BE READ PILE ( winter is coming soon)and I want to be ready to be snowed in. I am, so Mother Nature can bring it on anytime. Enjoy your reading and hope to hear from you soon.

    Hello Alice,
Thanks for the note, you do seem to get around quite a bit, my travels are mainly when we vacation with family or friends, two of our married children live within 30 minutes they have also given us four grandchildren all under the age of five (one girl three boys) our youngest daughter lives in Tennesse but will be moving home in a few months. I worked in the Title Insurance bussiness (Real Estate) for many years and walked away from it when my mother became sick and died, so now I am a stay at home grandmom (G.G. to the children) when not with the kids, I enjoy reading and counted cross stitch.

My lates read is THE HERTICS DAUGHTER by Kathleen Kent, The Moreland Dynasty series by Cynthis Harrod-Eagles (about 26 books in this series) my only hope is that I will be able to obtain all of them.

My pile of to be read is guite high and wil keep me busy for some time to come, but that doesn't stop me from adding to it on a regular basis.

The grandkids are spending the weekend, so I have to go for now, talk to you soon I hope.

Hi Alice, thanks for writing. I have "My stroke of insight" on hold at the library. I love books about the medical profession. I have put the others you suggested on my wish list. I have heard of them all but not read any so appreciate your input. I thought I had read something by Alan Furst but checked and I haven't. I'm interested in the siege of Leningrad and I understand there's a new fiction book out about that. Although I haven't read The Nine, I did read The Brethren several years ago. I've read some other books by Doris Kearns Goodwin too. Her husband was a JFK advisor. Hope to hear more from you, Judy (at school I had a t-shirt that said Conan the Librarian!)

    Hi Alice!

I haven't had a group invite for awhile, but I think if you go to "My Shelfari" there at the top of the page, the drop-down menu will give you an option for "What's New". Somewhere on the What's New page should be new invitations, I think; you might see something that says "You have new invitations" and you might need to click that. They keep reorganizing the site so it's hard for me to know exactly what the procedure is now :\ If you still can't get it, let me know and I'll ask Amanda!

    Hi Aunt Alice!
Mary sent me a note on here, so of course I had to drop you a note as well. I saw you have Plague of Doves on your Planning to Read list; that book has been flying off the shelf in the library. Please let me know what you think of it!!

Alice -- this site looks like fun -- though I haven't figured how to navigate it yet. When I saw Angie's shelf with THE KNOWN WORLD I yelled yippeee! More later ... I'll be seeing you face book.
