Wow Deb, a right knee replacement. How are you feeling? My sister in law just had both knees replaced (well a couple of months ago), and she is up and moving around pretty well now. I understand not feeling like reading right now. I have six books on my nightstand and I just can't muster up enough interest to start any of them. There is just too much going on in my life and I don't have the energy.Anyway, I do hope that you are feeling well soon. Have you started physical therapy yet?Lesley

Start at the beginning of Sue Grafton's stuff. A is for Alibi. I have read them all, and find myself ready to read the next one. James Patterson's Jack and Jill is scary and graphic but very good mystery reading. Enjoy

Hello, Why have you been unable to enjoy the Maximum Ride Series? I have been thinking about that series. My mother-in-law likes it and loaned me her copy. I have not been able to get into it. Let me know what you think?Ciao, Christy

Dear Debbie: If you enjoy reading Dan Brown, you may be interested in reading my debut novel, HUNTING THE KING. It just hit the bookstores in April. The novel follows archaeologist Molly O'Dwyer into war torn Iraq in search of the remains of Jesus. Watch the YouTube book trailer. It will give you a powerful sense of the novel. And if you have the time, please let me know what you think. Thanks. Peter

I had never heard of Gross before. My mom got me the book for my birthday. It was just a really good read. I am looking forward to reading others he has written.
Hi Debbie!I look forward to sharing and discussing books and authors. Janet Evanovich is probaby my all time favorite, but I have a few close seconds. Is Patterson your favorite?

I have been working on my shelf alot trying to remember all the books I have ever read. It has been fun and I keep finding more I want to read again. Some are just really vague memories. I have kept a book journal several times but lost them all. This time I have been able to keept one from the end of 2004 to now. I am keeping copies all over the place, on my computer on myspace and here as well as the hard copy. It is helpful as time goes by I don't remember if I read a book or not. I also have been doing lots of audiobooks this last couple of years. My eyesight is getting bad. While I cook, clean and well most of the time I have an audiobook going. Between paperbooks and audiobooks I have read 89 books so far this year... but I don't watch tv at all...

I've heard a lot of good things about Janet Evanovich's books. I plan on trying them one of these days! I do try to read a lot, but lately I've been a little slow. Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorites! Enjoy her book!
I forgot.. I am new here and don't know lots yet, but I think you just click on my icon that is how I found you and see your profile. I don't think I put too much there yet so if you want to know more feel free to ask.. I am married 48 years old in May, live in Louisiana, farm and raise goats, love books of all sorts, am a child at heart, am a grandma of one and a half.. lol one due the end of April.
I still read many books the old fashioned way.. usually between 50 and 100 a year. There are some books that are read by authors who voices drive me nuts.. I just tried to listen to one called Sweet Potato Queen's field guide to men.. it is read by the author. Her voice was just too annoying for me to handle. I will try again in book form. I do with the audios the same way I do with paper books, they get a few chapters to get me hooked otherwise they go back in the box and I grab something else. Life is too short and there are too many books to waste one minute on a book that is not just awesome! Just my humble oppinion. There are books that I can get into more in audio format than in book.. some that start slowly for example. It might take me several days to get through the first 3 chapters of a slow staring book the same in an unbaridged book goes by in just an hour or so. Also it makes things go by better (like housework and other mindless tasks I hate) Once you try you will be hooked, I am sure.
I know what you mean about time to read, have you thought of trying audiobooks? I started listening to them when I would drive to work and back (I spent almost 3 hours on the round trip) and radio makes me a little crazy. I am pretty homebound now, but stay busy with my little farm and still don't have enough time to read. I adore my audiobooks! A word of warning, the books that have racy parts keep for reading the usual way... I know from experience that once they start with all the steamy parts everyone and their brother will show up! Kids, In-Laws, Pastor... lol everyone! I know that I have a reputation of being quite the floozy listening to all the smut. LOL They never show up for The Hobbit or other innocent books. Most libraries have thousands of titles in audiobook, check it out.
Nora Roberts' Blue Smoke is a stand alone book so go for it! It is really an awesome read. I just loved it. Here is something to help you with her books... http://adwoff.com/nora-book_list/bibliography.htm It is not the best bibliography I have ever seen but is the only one I could find that has all her books. Have you tried the books she wrote as J.D. Robb? I just started this series, only read 3 so far.. good stuff a cross between suspense/mystery and sf (they are set in the near future)
