Happiness & peace in 2008!
hello new friend - we are most definitely related - my sister loves and owns horses!! One of my favorite poems by Jane is called "Mare" ... how is that for coincidence? It isn't in her book "After" however. It's a great poem!!! Just google it and enjoy !!! I'm getting ready to leave on vacation - but let's keep in touch. I could use some good poetic friends!! Thank you, redmittengirl ....... (see Emmylou Harris for Red Dirt Girl)xxxred
hi red mitten girl - that was the first time i have ever written from a prompt. it felt good. i think i'm going to like this - i've had a dry spell lately.Favorite poetry book reading right now? Jane Hirshfield's "After" - how about you?Wanna be friends ? (how do we do that around here ???) red
Hi. Love the puppy. He's a doll...or is it she? My latest pic is of Major. He's 18lbs of cutie. He sucks his tail, too. Needless to say, he's my baby. Eddie will be next. Wait till you see her. She's the beautiful one. (Yep, Eddie is a girl, and Blondie is a boy. We're an odd family.) I love this changing pictures once in a while thing. Still wish we had a page where we could share/post pictures though. Actually, I still wish we had the old layout back. It was sooooo much better.
I'll probably have to get a new doggy some day soon. This poor guy's arthritic & mostly deaf & peed on a carpet recently. He was always so intelligent & really well mannered! I'm also now allergic to dogs & cats (never was before the baby), but our 2 yr old will certainly need a friend. I'm thinking smaller like yours. What kind is he?
p.s. your pup's adorable!
Our Border Collie always circled the pool like an absolute nut, chasing the kids while they swam! He also licked their heads if they got near the edge & fell in occasionally. Watching him herd them around the pool was hysterical. He's pretty old now, though, so he doesn't race around anymore : (
All my cats are jealous of each other all the time. I think it's a cat thing. I think my favorite place for quotes right now is the internet. I just Google any old thing and see what comes up. There is so much out there. Wish we'd had the 'net back in the late 80s when I was in high school. Boy, the papers I could have written. I like to use them when I send cards and such to friends. That's my one pet peeve about the 'net...you hardly ever see anyone sending actual letters or cards any more. There's something to be said for an actual hand-written note. I received emails and "snail mail" cards after some recent surgery, and I think the cards touched me more.
Layover by Lisa Zeidner is the funny but, I guess, somewhat dark one I mentioned. I loved it! Not terribly literary just hit home for me & was completely entertaining. I'd say more but want you to read it first! I actually bought it after reading a library copy bc I like her style.Michele
Hi Sherry! Thanks for reading the interview. There's a much sillier one with my sister just posted at http://snellsisters.blogspot.com. Re SA--the publisher swears the novel will be out for Christmas.
I do have a top 10 listed: "Layover" was literally lol to me, reading, again, on the treadmill. But Jude the Obscure is my all time fav!! "Handmaid's Tale" & "Fury" are both up top bc of great story w/underlying social commentary -also "White Noise" by DeLillo. Oh, I love my books -all of 'em!! Really good creepy AND social commentary, also banned at one time in Scotland, is "The Wasp Factory" -ooh, some deep stuff happening there.
