Scary how sometimes a book can mirror your own life (well for the most part)! LOL! I can now understand what the uproar was about this book. This is definitely a departure from her usual writing style and audience, but it was a pretty good book from this novice's point of view to the point that I didn't want to put the book down until I finished it!

Ultimately who doesn't wish they can get rid of parents/people who do nothing but chide, make fun of, ignore, or in general don't love their child when they can live with someone who will love and nurture them for them and accept them for who they are??!!!

I had read this book as a child but I had completely forgotten what this story was about until I visited some friends in Mass. whose kids had the book. I read the story to my son who loved the story so much we bought the whole treasury and it remains a beloved treasure in our home to this day.
