Peter

I love reading and I collect (and read!) Christian Fiction. There are some great and talented Christian authors and I believe it is good to support them and the Gospel by buying and reading their work. I love they way they can take a Bible verse, topic or event from the Bible and turn it into a story without altering the message of the Bible or... more »

Hey Peter! You can listen to the Judd Burton interview on www.pidradio.com. I just assumed that you listened to Derek and Sharon Gilbert's podcast. Derek posts every Sunday night interviews on View From A Bunker.

Hey Peter. Did you listen to the View from The Bunker interview with Judd Burton yet? Also I see that you are planning to read Origins by Clay Coonce. I also have this book. I tried to get into it but I never finished it. Also next week's View from the Bunker interview is with a guy named Doug Elwell. You should definitely check him out. His website is www.mysteriousworld.com. He has all kinds of stuff on there about giants. Very fascinating stuff.

Peter, thanks for the info on Eric Wilson. I am looking forward to reading the Jerusalem Undead Series. I also have a strong interest in the Nephilim. It is amazing to me how so many Christians have no idea about them and how much of a role they played in the Old Testament. I get particularly frustrated with mainstream pastors and scholars who just completely ignore or try to explain away the plain reading of the text in Genesis 6. I have just recently found out about another who writes Christian speculative fiction by the name of Rebecca Ellen Kurtz. She has a novel out which is called Sons of God. It sounds very interesting because it is a story about a female Nephilim who goes around killing other Nephilim. She is some sort of hero in this story. Interesting premise. Rebecca Kurtz did a lot of research on the Nephilim before she wrote this book. I haven't read it yet but I am certainly planning on it.

Hi Peter. I am almost finished with Black and I will probably have it done this weekend. I have read that Ted said that you can start with Green if you haven't read the other 3 but I wanted to start with Black. Actually I am contemplating stopping after Black and reading something by Eric Wilson call Field of Blood. it is the first in the Jerusalem Undead series. It is about vampires which I am not that into but I have read a little about the premise of this series and it sounds great! Especially after reading Interview with a Giant and what Judd Burton had to say about the Nephilim and vampires. You will see what I am talking about when you get to chapter 4 of Judd's book. Enjoy and thanks for the advice about the Circle series.

After talking with you I started thinking back about some of Chuck Missler's books and a few of the others books I've read on apologetics and got to add a few more books to my shelf. It's amazing how much I've read. Hard part is remembering what they are.

Well, Oliver North's trio was great! In fact when I got done with the Mission Compromised I had to look in the front of the book to make sure it was fiction - still not convinced. Excellent books. Here's a link I think you might like to look at from Ted Dekker. Found it on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/note.php?note_id=143499079854
Still four more days at work and then back home. I get to read a lot more at work than I get time at home. I'm on "The Ends of the Earth" by Tim Downs right now. Should be done before I leave to go back home, then I want to start The Kingdom Wars.
(Still have to order The Age of the Antichrist and The Lights of Tenth Street) Which ones should I start with?
    Hope you're doing well.

Oh man, Peter - you're killing me!!! I'm only about chapter 5, but that's because I'm reading Mission Compromised and What In The World is Going On also.
    Thank God . . . .

Ok, I'll wait on Thunder in Paridise and order The Age of the Antichrist along with The Lights of Tenth Street. No Worry, it's like christmas all over again. It's my thrill to HAVE to order new books. I'm headed back to work tomorrow but I have the three Oliver books, both Kingdom Wars and The Ends of the Earth by Tim Downs.

Praise the Lord I should be set for the next two weeks.

The funny thing is my first thought when you said I was on the sequel, my mind started to race and I had this over whelming desire to head down to the book store and buy about a dozen books!

Thanks Peter for keeping in straight. You probable know what it's like to read a book out of order - you get to the end and find out you messed it up. Thanks again.
It'll be two weeks before I get home. I do get to check my email from time to time but other than that I might not talk to you until then - you're a good man Peter.

Peter - I introduced my sister to Shelfari and showed her your page. She is a book-aholic as well. She is very interested in the Nephilim and wanted me to ask you where she should start reading. What would be a set of books to start out. I told her you're the man to ask. You're a expert on Nephilim. I'm sure she will someday talk with you. Right now I have her on the Night Light series, Green. Oh, she wasn't even aware of the 6 Lost Book series with Billos and Darcy, etc. She'll have to read them too. She comes over and raids my book shelf from time to time. Let me know what you think she might start with. thanks

Oh no - now I have to order "The Age of the Anthichrist". I already sent the order yesterday. And yes, I love ordering books. It's an addiction. I'll sit for hours looking at what I want to read next - that's the hard part, there's just so many I can't make up my mind. :)
Once I get into an author I have to read everything he has but then there are so many others I want to read. I just can read them fast enough. I'll probably start Oliver North's and get back to Jonathan Cash. Karin has read three series of Terry Blackstock and I just ordered the next one she wanted so I have all of those I can read too.
I was looking for something I could recommend to you but it looks like you've read everything already! I spend the first 10 years of my "walk" reading mostly christian living and bible study. It wasn't until a few years ago that I started christian fiction - it was kind of like a break from intense bible study. If you like there are a few "studies" that I would recommend. One is "Twelve Ordinary Men" by John MacAuthur. An excellent study of the disciples. When you get done you "know" each of the disciples personally. Very Good. There is also "Hard to Believe" and "The Gospel According to Jesus" by him as well. Excellent work.
I think John MacAuthur is my favorite pastor/teacher. He is a no holds-barred type of teaching. Very to the point and no watered down teaching of the Word. I listen to him on www.oneplace.com called Grace to You - along with several other excellant teachers. I follow Turning Point - Dr. David Jeremiah; Renewing Your Mind - Dr. R.C. Sproul; Back to the Bible with Woodrow Kroll. Just to name a few. I've gotten into downloading the Podcast so I can listen to them on my Iphone - when there is ever a time I'm not reading. Haven't found much of that though
Anyway, thanks a lot Peter. Talk with you later . . . .

Hi Peter - Well, I finished Terri Blackstock's Night Light series, they were great! Must say I will be reading more of her. My wife has finished several more of her series and now I can read them. How did you like Boneman's Daugher? I see you're reading Ulterior Motives, what do you think? Let me know about "Thunder in Paradise"
I'm getting ready to order my books for the month and thought I might get that one too. Have fun and enjoy - Harvey

What I was saying about Terri Blackstone was that I enjoyed her books but I am looking forward to several other books right now - and if I put her on the back of my list, it might take a year or so to get back to her other series, know what I mean? I think I will do the Oliver North and Jack Caughnagh next.

I'll check out the christian review link as soon as I can. I'm off shore and will be back home by Thursday, then two weeks off. Can't wait.

I will would love to come visit and look you up on my next vacation. That sounds great. Good to know you Peter. Thanks

Hi Peter, I finished Green a couple weeks ago and it's really good. Ted brings a lot of the "past" together. You will find a few things that you had forgoten and people that were someone else. That's all I'll say. But when you get to the end, the last chapter, I want you to tell me what you thought about the ending? Just to see if you agree with what I came away with. You will truly enjoy. I'll start Oliver North's sometime next week when I got home from work. I enjoyed Joel Rosenburg books, I thought that these would be pretty good. I'm also going to order the Kingdom Wars. What you said about them sounded pretty good. I wanted to thank you so much from getting in touch with me. I has really helped me look for more books to read. Thanks for the comments you added to your books. I found a christian fiction group in the community on here. I haven't added them to my page but I thought it would nice to take a look and see what other people are reading in christian fiction. I finiahing the Last light series. They're pretty good. My wife has gotten into them and has read a couple other of her series. I think the last light series is all I'll read. Good but I think there is other things that I'll spend the time on. Like you said there is just so much that I have waiting to read that I might not time to get to before the Rapture, know what I mean?
Thanks Peter. Talk to you later.

he gives two optional endings to the book, and then you get on his website to vote for which one you want. From what I understand, he will then go on from there when writing the next book.

You will definitely want to read Ends of the Earth. You can then get on Tim Downs' website and vote for which ending you want him to use. Judging by that, I would say the Bug Man will be back for more!

I found your profile by a book you had on your shelf. Don't know which one. At the moment my novel is not available electronically but I may make it available at scribd.com at some point. But you can't take that kind of book to bed or the beach. haha

Thanks for responding, Peter.I chose your profile because you read Christian fiction. The Sandal Maker is like nothing else in that genre. I puts at the ground level during the public ministry of Jesus but through the eyes of a skeptical character with an objective point of view which gives the story that edge. If you decide to read it, let me know what you think.

Hi, Peter. I am the author of The Sandal Maker, a new novel about the public ministry of Jesus. A book that will take you on a fascinating journey of how the gospel came to be. You can read the first chapter by going to scribd.com and searching for the title. I’m including here the publisher's notes from Amazon.com. Let me know what you think.

    Book Description
Caleb, an elderly Jew, leaves the safety of his home in Cana on a mission to find a man he believes is in Jerusalem. Miriam, Caleb’s only remaining child, accompanies him disguised as a boy. In the desolation of the war struck Galilean countryside, father and daughter risk their lives to journey south on the Jordan River trail. As they walk, Caleb intrigues Miriam with a captivating story of his youth that will change her future destiny. A story of a time forty years prior when he became a sandal maker in order to observe a man some called the Miracle Worker. Caleb secretly kept notes of the events he saw and heard as he followed the crowds. With his objective, skeptical point of view, he reveals the fascinating ministry of the one he called the “Master.” Heart pounding perils and the threat of death endanger the two travelers, but nothing could foretell the fate awaiting them in Jerusalem!

    From the Publisher
    A. Michaelson's new novel, The Sandal Maker, takes the reader on a fascinating journey back to the year 70 A.D. in worn torn Palestine. The author creatively weaves two stories together, one in the present, the other in the past. Heartwarming, enlightening and tragic, The Sandal Maker paints a portrait of one man's life and his involvement in how the gospel came to be.

Hi Peter, I just finished Last Light a couple nights ago. Really enjoyed it. Easy reading, moved pretty well. My wife just started it yesterday. She really likes it. Kind of makes you want to go out and buy oil lamps and a bike - which is not a bad idea. I think I may get a little more prepared anyway. We lose electricity all most every year here, ice storms or tornadoes. The Ted Ducan series is good. It moves well too. He uses the story line to convey several biblical principles that he has come to understand that are somewhat different from the general main stream conservative christian view point. He lays them out very well by outlining the more widely held view and then why he has chosen a little different interpretation. He explains all this in the preface. Then in the notes at the end compares the differences. Very well done. In fact I do see his point and do find his views as very possible indeed. In the first book it is his premise of the Rapture. In the second he explains several other possible interruptions of a few concepts that I really enjoyed. I am open to his position and have considered his view on several. When you get time to read them lets talk and see how you feel. I need to finish The Bug Man series and now Last Light then I think I'll check out The Kingdom Wars and Douglas Hirt. I just read your review on Veritas and that sounds really good. So many to read! I was getting concerned I was running out of good books read until we met. Now I have a good list to work on. Thanks. Talk to you later.
