I am making up for all the reading I did not do when I was younger. I enjoy hearing from friends about the good books they have read. I belong to a nice little low-key, no-pressure book club. I am married with two grown sons. We all love to read!

I do not remember this Standing in the Rainbow book at all ! ! If I read it, that doesn't bode well for me. Can you bring it back just in case? Also, if you have the Lace Reader I'll take it! I havent read it and want to. I am assembling my bag of readables for when you get here on FRIDAY! ! ! ! ! ! !

OMG I have not been on Shelfari in forever but I have to update my life due to changing to verizon DSL for internet. No more gk5of6. I am now gkrempa@verizon.net. And yes that is my house with last year's foliage. This year, not so pretty. Who had time?????

Cuba was a nostalgic trip for me. I needed to walk down the streets where my parents grew up. I can best describe Cuba as sad, challenging, beautiful and hot! The island is essentially drab right now because so many buildings need refurbishing and mostly everything is in need of much repair. A suggested read is "Waiting for Snow in Havana" by Carlos Eire. It's one of my favorites

Mary, I see that you plan to read the Cuba Reader. Cuba is a subject very near and dear to my heart. After just returning from the island I would love to talk with you about the book and even share some pictures with you if you are interested.

I have three whole friends on Shelfari: Gerry who hasn't been on in forever; Nancy (you met at the shower and she lives next door) and she hasn't been on in forever and a day and Lauren. Who doesn't get on either. hmmmmm. Just one more chore I guess. See you in a few in M. Beach : )

I have about 40 more pages to go but everyone keeps telling me about this unexpected ending. Jodi Picoult spoke about this book at the National Book Festival in DC but never gave the ending away. Also, the movie received a very poor rating and understand that the ending was different. I'm glad that you read this book because I would love to discuss with you. I have alot of questions.

Mary B. Thanks for inviting me. Not sure I will be very faithful to this........much like a FACEBOOK page. I would rather read than write about reading.

You have a great memory. Yes, it was quite dreary that day, somewhat like today. It probably worked to my favor because I found a parking spot right in front and not as many people. There didn't seem to be as many books as in the past but I still managed to come home with about 14! 4 of them were for my niece who is 10 and loves to read. After going to the Hockessin sale, the Wilmington sale is small in comparison. Sorry you missed it because I'm sure you would have found a book or two. First time I didn't see any Philippa Gregory books.

Mary, just read your review of "In an Instant" and you have enticed me to read it before Lee comes to the Smart Talk. I will squeeze it in right after Amagansett.

    Mary B.,
I first heard Kelly recite her essay on TV (can't remember what channel) and was so impressed that I googled her and found the Middle Place. It was a good read with a refreshing ending...and George was quite the character....can't you just picture him at a family gathering!

I have Suite Francais. I bought it when I thought I might be re-joining my old book club for April and that is their selection but the date coincides with our date, so it is on plan to read list!

You are exactly right and I'm trying to squeeze it in before our next book club read. I always enjoy the book much more than the movie as was the case with DaVinci Code. Dan Brown actually wrote this one before DaVinci Code and it's very similar. It's a page turner and very fast paced.

My head has been so wrapped up in this new job that I'm to tired or distracted to read. I have picked up several books and then put them down again!

Mary, I noticed that you also plan to read The Virgin's Lover. If you don't have the book, I'll be happy to lend you mine. You also have several other Philippa Gregory books on your list. If you are in need of any of those, the library book sales are great place to purchase them. They usually have a big selection of Philippa Gregory books. Did I ever mention to you that I saw her at the National Book Festival in D.C.?
