wow... apparently i suck at reading my notes. I only just noticed that you sent that!It was good. Disturbing. Parts were a bit slow-going. It's pretty dense. I had to put it down a bit. But very eye opening. I would overall recommend it.
A cranky musician posing as a lit major, if you recall. I had to play a lot of catch-up. I fail.
mmmmm... I love blasphemy....But I may love your icon more :)
oh attackage! ; )#1. I was all excited about David Sedaris since a girl in my class wrote her thesis on him. The quotes she used were kinda funny and I thought his stuff would be good. Naked was the first book (and will probably be the only book) of his I've read and I was surprised how much I actively disliked it. I just found him bitter. And I've read things that are bitter and funny at the same time. This was just bitter and nasty. I don't think I laughed once. I think I said "ha ha" in my head when I read one of the chapter titles. That's it. Part of the issue was that I had unreasonably high expectations. The other part of it was that I feel it nowhere lived up to the hype build up about it. Yeah. Dissapointed big time.#2. Yeah. You have a point about 1984. I appreciate the fact that the premise behind it is prety much genious. It was written so long ago and continues to be relevant to our society... perhaps more today than then. I wasn't a huge fan of the writing. I honestly struggled through the writing to get to the ideas. But it was good. Really good. I think I was being a little harsh. So if you can convince me that Me Talk Pretty One Day is waaaaay better than Naked, maybe I'll read it. Otherwise I'll just tell people I lost my sense of humor.... because I can't find it in David Sedaris.[3 always
you are fabulous. xoxo
