This morning it was wonderfully cool. The mid 60s. Our local news is talking about a cool down to 87. Never thought that would be considered cool. It's August, it's gonna be hot.

Glad to hear you made it through your book. The last Anne Rice book I read was Queen of the Damned, and I couldn't get more than 90 pages before I gave up.

Right now I am half way through The Hunger Games. It has a good pace to the story and I'm anxious to get back and read some more. I didn't realize they were making a movie version. Then again I shouldn't be surprised.

Nothing planned for me today except lots of time devoted to reading. I like days like that.

Now that you finished your book what are you gonna read next?

Maybe one reason I am falling asleep too easily is the choice of reading material.

I didn't think about lighting. Have to think about that as well.

    Any good reads lately?

One of these years I am going to buckle down and read the Narnia series.

I'm thinking about a new reading chair. Something that will be comfortable yet not too much so that I instantly fall asleep.

    Talk to you soon,

Hey! I've been well, thanks! How about you?

I've just been reading secondhand books. My current read is The Order of Odd-Fish by James Kennedy and it's great. Odd and hilarious. You?

Sadly, I don't visit here as often as I used to. Right now I have gone back and re-read the first volume of the Sherlock Homes canon. I think it has helped recharge my reading mojo. I'm making more time for reading. I have several books I am looking forward to try after I finish. Still have 400 pages to go.

I'm snowed in and can't get to work. There's too much ice and it makes driving treacherous. Feeling a little couped up. Cabin fever.

    How are you?
    Happy New Year.

The feeling's mutual because I'm sure your books are missing you a lot too, wishing you were reading them. Yes, I do love them! Thanks! Take care and have a great July too!

I just finished Brandon Mull's fourth Fablehaven book, and I can't wait till I get my hands on the fifth and final book in the series! Also reading Susanna Clarke's Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. How about you? I hope you've been well!

I'm fine. Another year older, wiser and all that jazz.

The crossover story of Holmes and the Phantom was pretty good. Enjoyable read. I think you'd like it.

"Erik is Dead" appears at the end of the Leroux novel and to me, that's it. There shouldn't be a story after that. Needless to say I gave PofM a try and I hated it. You said that there were liberties that made you cringe, well, I felt that way through the whole book. I thought it was outlandish and ridiculous.

Author Susan Kay wrote a fantastic origin story of Erik, simply called Phantom that intricately delves into his horrific childhood through the events that led him to the famous opera house, where Leroux's book begins. If you can, find a copy, it is wonderfully written and well worth your time.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on Phantom of Manhattan. I've read it. I don't want to say anything before you read it because I don't want it to influence you.

I'm not sure if I am gonna go see ALW's sequel to POTO. Some things are perfect just the way they are.

Do you read better under a deadline? If you put pressure on yourself to read more does that work?

Today is a gray, wet and cold day. So I have no excuse but to pick up my book and read.

Don't worry about the numbers. You'll get there.
    Happy Reading.

POTO is one of the only books I'll re-read. Good for you! :-)

I like to keep track of my reading, too. I was able to meet my goal of a book a week for a year. I finished 2009 with 53 books read. I'm hoping I can beat that this year, but of course if that's gonna happen I need to get crackin on my first book.

I think I'm gonna focus alot of my reading energies on finishing all the many series I've started. I need to remind myself not to start any new series until I finish the ones I've already begun.

I hope you have a great 2010 and continue the good work! Happy Reading.

Seems like a really fun read! But I'm not sure I'm gonna like that it's a graphic novel. Will look for it when I drop by the bookstore though. Thanks!

To you too! Hey, Fables seems interesting. Is that a graphic novel? Or just a plain novel?
