I love the wonder of playing with words so I am a poet and a reader of poetry. I have recently published a poetry memoir about my bi-cultural marriage and family entitled Breathing Rice, An East West Love Story.
I have also been a teacher - teaching every level from pre-school to university and, in addition, I have worked in a library...more »

Just realized you said Hawaii!! How wonderful! Haven't been there since '65 when my husband was wounded in Vietnam. Just the name conjures up the aroma of a tiny white flower lei I had when we stopped there in '49 on our way home. How I would love to go back some day. And, I have a college friend who lives there and we could stay with her. It is so far from the East Coast...lucky you! In the olden days Hawaiian boys would be in the water as the ships came in and we would throw coins to them. They would catch them and put them in their mouths. I'll be thinking of Hawaii all day now.

Hello! I just returned from ten lovely days in Colorado and South Dakota. Sun! No bugs! I hauled along The Moor's Last Sigh but barely had time to read at all except on the plane. What I've read, I'm enjoying. I like the way Rushdie uses words, his humor and punning. I'm afraid I'm not feeling very dedicated to the book right now though, too many outside temptations. :)

I haven't read anything by him but let me know what you liked. Maybe I had something on my Wish List...can't remember.

The Eighth Promise sounds really good. Have you read any of Gus Lee's books? Judy

Thanks, Jean. I tried to find my book at the library but couldn't. They told me that it wasn't at any library in the entire US. I suppose I'll donate one to them so it can be found by others.

Hi Jean! Thanks for you supportive comments. I love drawing and painting, seem to be searching for a medium and subject that is me. I did visit your son's site. Gosh, there are so many creative people out there. Those illustrations are really magical.

Hi Jean, thanks for adding me. I will have to check out your poetry book. I don't publish much online anymore, but I do have a few poems in LA FOVEA. Thanks for your note and have a wonderful day!

Hi Jean! Love your fall photo. I hope you are well. I just finished Away by Amy Bloom, it's beautifully written and very engaging and evocative. After looking at your shelf I think you'd really like it. Best, Abby

Thanks for reminding me about Cheaper by the Dozen! I love that book (and the old movie version). I'm planning on rereading it.
