I love the wonder of playing with words so I am a poet and a reader of poetry. I have recently published a poetry memoir about my bi-cultural marriage and family entitled Breathing Rice, An East West Love Story. It has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, my second nomination.
I have also been a teacher - teaching every level from pre-school to university. In addition, I have worked in a library literacy program. I am on the board of our local Friends of the Libraries and an advocate for using libraries, local bookstores, and used book shops.
My hobbies are swimming, cooking, watching foreign films ( esp. French) studying Spanish- so I can enjoy reading Spanish poetry in the original, participating in my writing group, my book group, volunteering in my Episcopal church, and of course reading. Right now I particularly am enjoying poetry, memoirs, essays, and non-fiction about any and everything.
I am also interested in reading about issues of social justice and women's and children's rights in America and around the world. I am a transplanted Californian and a great fan of the beauty of our golden state. I am a bit of a homebody, an armchair traveler through books, but I do on occasion enjoy traveling particularly in Europe and Asia.
I have two terrific grown children, a daughter and son, a brillant son-in-law, a wonderful husband, and a cat, my darling Clementine, who are all my heart's delight.
If I could choose one thing I'd really like to do it would be to see the Northern Lights but I did the next best thing and bought a book about them.
