i read edgar sawteele, a book about a family that breeds dogs. it is more of a story of the role dogs played in there life, it truned out to be a mystery, which i liked until the end. i like books to have a concrete ending open ends or sad endings frustrate me. if you like dogs and their personalities this is a great book

Hi MaryEllen, The Shadow of the Wind was a little hard to get into at first, but in the end came thru for me. I'm really not good a describing or critiquing anything. So sorry if this isn't helpful. In the end I really did enjoy this book lilke I said it just took a little awhile to get interesting. It's a little dark and disturbing regarding the main charater, but it is just a book. There is a character who comes in the middle that made me laugh out loud alot. Which is a little embarrassing on the bus. Although me lauging out lound in no way makes me the strange one on the bus. I saw that Tricia read and she is very good at finding a good listen.

take care miss you lots, lisa

please suggest books i can listen to on the bus and train

MaryEllen, I just finished (yesterday) Merle's Door. I loved it so much! I thought it was fascinating, funny, informative, and just a beautiful love story. I was trying to remember, did you recommend it to me (I know you recommended The Art of Racing in the Rain, which I also loved, but Merle really intensely affected me.

Did you read "Fortunate Son" yet by Mosley? I did not see it on your shelf, it is one of my all time favorite story/book. It has been passed through out the wharf, everyone loved it.

I give The Shack 1-2 stars of 5. I seemed to stretch the spiritual experience. It was very repetitve of the message and over simplified. I was eager to finish it, not out of interest, but to get to the well expected outcome overwith so I could move on to another book. Seemed like it was written form a Catholic point of view. Definetively a let down for me.

    Hi MaryEllen,
I am now reading Stephenie Meyer's vampire books. I love them. I finished Twighlight in London and i started New Moon yesterday so i will finish it tonight. i can't put these books down. i only let twighlight linger because i didn't bring another book. Tricia is bringing me the third edition tomorrow. The books are supposed to be teen books but i'm addicted they do bring out the teenager in me. Even if it's way down deep inside of me.

I heard that Water for Elephants book is hard to read - that is, there are pretty frank descriptions of animal cruelty. Is that true?
