My Top Ten Shelf has way more than ten books but I just couldn't narrow it down. Send me a recommendation along with your invite or acceptance of friendship. I'd love to hear about what you're reading. Also, if I send you an invite it has NOTHING to do with the promotion of my books. I'm a booklover first and foremost and an invitation from... more »

I've been intrigued by Anatole Broyard's story since I read the New Yorker article years ago. I loved Roth's fictionalized account in THE HUMAN STAIN but I hated the movie. What bizarre and horrible casting. Bliss Broyard's account of her father's life is thoughtful and interesting. There were a few curious lines here and there, well more than a few, but I can forgive that. Just ordered her short story collection, MY FATHER DANCING.

Very impressive debut. One of my absolute favorite reads of the past few years. Donohue did an amazing job of sustaining this story from beginning to end. Plan to re-read it again soon.

I've listed this on my Classics list as well as my All-Time Favorites. For years, I read this story at the start of every school year and now, as an adult, I pick it up every couple of years to conjure up that cozy childhood feeling. I went on to read the rest of the series but this remained my favorite. One of my Top Five favorite books from childhood, Top Twenty of all time.

This is still one of my all-time favorite books. I remember the movie so well. It was always shown in our classroom during Rainy Day Recess. I try to keep a copy on my shelf but I always end up giving it away to visitors.

This brings back sweet, sweet memories. I give this one to the kids in my life. The band of monkeys were endlessly hilarious. Nice book for a rainy day even as an adult.
