Mrs S

I'm a wife, mom and a grandmother. I am back teaching high school science, for the love of the kids, the camaraderie of working with other teachers, and because the economy really sucks! I relax by making art glass in my garage studio and am looking forward to taking some graphic art classes. I've been a book lover since the day my mother... more »

Saw Modoc on your shelf as the best book you ever read. I wanted to thank you, picked it up at the library on Monday and finished it on Wed. Thanks!

I don't seem to read these notes very often. Read Alas, Babylon. It's very good and getting more apropos by the moment. Going to start the Al Franken book tonight.

I read it at the beginning of the year. I rarely remember each and every book though. Merle's Door is one that I do remember in detail but not The Alchemist. I try to rate them right away after I've read them.

Unfortunately, the tree is not in my yard. It's a picture my husband found and sent to me due to its striking resemblance to a dryad. I couldn't resist. I love The Academy. I couldn't be happier. I'm meeting with Phillip tomorrow to finish our plans for freshman orientation. :)

I'm glad you liked Mere's Door. It was sad, wasn't it but also insightful. Getting to know an animal and being able to understand what they are telling you is a wonderful experience. I loved the way Ted Kersote described the chuffing noise Merle made as "Ha, Ha, Ha". I've heard Tinker make that same noise and it does sound like "Ha, Ha, Ha". I still think about that book and Merle.

How's it going Kathleen? How is the glass work? I would love to come by and see the shop sometime. Is it all stained glass, fusing, etc. or are you doing any blowing?

I see you finally read "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns". Which one did you like better?
