I did read The Green Mile, when it was released in serial form originally. This is one instance where I did not really mind the format, as the books were small and easy to read, and the next one came out quickly. I would say it is among King's best works, and even the movie adaptation was mostly faithful and superb in itself. You would do well to read it if you have not.

My mistake, man. I guess it was the community rating of one star I saw. Believe me, the book gets more than one star from me! I would be interested to hear what you think of it when you finish. No tarring or feathering, I promise! I expect that will be soon with the rate at which you are going through them! I am curious to see what you think, as you have read the series in such a short time. Your perspective may be very different from mine, as I read each as it arrived, and re-read the first four multiple times while waiting for Wolves to arrive years later. I think one day I will re-read them all back to back, but I can promise it will take a hell of a lot longer for me than it has you! Enjoy following the path of the Beam!

Hey man, I see that we share opinions on the final Dark Tower book. I would not score it one star, but it was far from what I was expecting. The ending was strangely satisfactory, though. Thank you for the friend invitation. I expect there will be much spirited and worthwhile discussion :-)

Have you heard of the novel PIG ISLAND by Mo Hayder ?
blurb says it's the scariest novel of the year, takes place off the coast of Scotland and deals with a Santanic cult and a crazy evangelical Preacher...

I know what you mean about time off, I'm on vacation this week, and have more to do at home then I would at work.
As I wait for the Magic Cottage, I have found an old horror novel at my local used book store called The Abyss by Steve Vance, it's about a small town Bed and Breakfast in Indiana U.S. and something horrible in the basement involving some towns people, and missing tourists.

I hope you enjoy his books as muCh as I have, a very good stand alone novel by Connolly is BAD MEN.
I love reading many different types of books and always open to suggestions.

If you enjoy a good thriller, have you ever read any John Connolly ?
He writes about a Private Detective named Charlie Parker, not your average P.I novel very dark and sometimes a bit supernatural.

I tried hard to make a go of that group, but found that there was very little to no interest from other shelfari’ns. Unfortunately my summer got really crazy. But I do hope to make another attempt at getting the group up and running again. So you are more than welcome to join, and I hope to be posting new discussions this week. I also run the Dean Koontz group, and will probably combine the “book of the month” to be the same book for a month or two. Less work for me LOL :)
