I just read your comment on Tenney's God Chasers. I left a post there but didn't know if you'd get it so here's what I wrote. As far as I could see you're right, charleen -- I think Hostetler really missed the point of the book. For example when he "rephrases" what Tenney's supposedly saying, it's not at all what Tenney really DOES say; e.g. Hostetler says Tenney craves "present Truth (by this he means an experiential, emotional manifestation of God's presence)". But I read the book and Tenney doesn't mean that at all. What he means is simple: if he "truth" you get from the Bible is not enlivened by the Present Holy Spirit, it is merely "old" truth... The issue isn't DOCTRINAL but RELATIONAL. Eternal Life isn't a matter of WHAT you know but WHO you know. Anyway, charleen, I really appreciated your perspective here. BTW -- I've recently started a Bible discussion forum where people can talk about books they're reading -- our first example is The Shack (here at www.tinyurl.com/Review-The-Shack ) and thought you might like to check it out. Bless you! Emil
I am sorry it has taken so long to reply to your note. Yes, I have read Juaniat Bynum's book "The Threshing Floor". It brought out different things that I have never thought of. It is one of those books that you don't breeze through. It takes much contemplation...right? Have you started reading it yet?Elaine
