Full Surrender


She was closed tightly during the long, dark, and cold season of the night,

But the sun did rise, and the joy of the morning did come,

Then slowly, in response to the light and warmth of love, she opened.

As each petal relaxed its grip in full surrender, the flower enlarged herself,

And released a fragrance that filled the air.

جشن خوردادگان

در سالنامه كهن ايراني در اين روز "چهارم خورداد" جشنی در ستایش و گرامی داشت خرداد يا خورداد برگزار مي‌گردد.
واژه‌ي خورداد در اوستایی هَئوروَتات و در پهلوی خُردات خوانده مي‌شود و به مانک (معني) رسایی و تندرستی و نام یکی از هفت امشاسپند است. اين واژه‌ در سانسکریت و در ودا نیز به گونه سَئوروَتات آمده است.

خورداد امشاسپند در جهان گيتيگ (مادی) پاسبان آب ها و نهرها و دریاها است و نمادي از رهايي مشيه (بشر) است. از آنجا كه آب و گياه به گونه‌ي سرشتين و پرهامي (طبيعي) با هم جفت‌اند، همواره در نوشتارهاي كهن ایران، خورداد امشاسپدان همراه با امرداد امشاسپدان نگهبان گياهان آورده شده است.
پیش‌کش این دو امشاسپند دارايي و رمه است، به گونه‌ای که این دو، نماینده‌ی آرمان های نیرومندی و سر چشمه‌ی زندگی و رویش هستند.
هماوردان ويژه آن‌ها، دیوان‌ گرسنگی و تشنگی اند و همکاران خورداد، ایزد تیشتر و باد و فروهر پرهیزکاران هستند.
در باور ایرانیان، خورداد در هنگام تاخت اهریمن، آب را به یاری فروهرها می ستاند و به باد می سپارد و سپس باد آن را با شتاب به سوی کشورها می برد و با ميانجي ابر می باراند.
همچنین در نام‌گذاری ماه ها، خرداد و امرداد در دو سوي ماه ‌تیر یا تیشتر جای دارند و تیشتر ایزد باران است.

در بُـندهشن "آغاز آفرینش"، یکی از نُسك‌هاي (کتاب های) كهن پهلوی درباره ی این امشاسپند آمده است:
