Happy New Year! Hope 2009 is full or great reading and adventures!
Julie-I highly recommend this book that I read over the summer. It was recommended to me by a few different people, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Here is a blurb about it:Life of Pi is a novel by Canadian author Yann Martel. The protagonist Piscine "Pi" Molitor Patel, an Indian boy from Pondicherry, explores the issues of religion and spirituality from an early age and survives 227 days shipwrecked in the Pacific Ocean.
Hey, Julie. Okay, you've inspired me - I'm embarrassed to say that I can't remember the last time I actually read an entire book from beginning to end! I used to be an avid reader, but somehow after the kids were born that was just one more thing that went by the wayside! I really liked some of Joy Fielding's books (See Jane Run and The First Time come to mind), Patricia Cornwell, Jonathan Kellerman, Robin Cook. . . Just some thoughts!
HI Julie, glad to see you are making time in your busy schedule to read. Based on the books and authors on your shelf I woulld recommend authors David Sedaris, Paulo Coelho and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I'm going to share this site with the members of my book group, it is great!, and so are you!
Hi Julie! This website is the greatest idea - thanks for the invite. I was a bit out of touch with leisure reading in grad. school but just started a book club in June. We have considered/are considering a lot of books on your list.
Since you liked the other Augusten Burroughs books, you might like his substance abuse/rehab memoir called "Dry". It sounds depressing but it's quite funny in parts. It's the only thing I've read by him and I liked it a lot. Meg
