His conception was permited by the government on the chance he could command the troops against the aliens. Is it moral for society to use children in this way?
Scott was under contract for Speaker for the Dead but had to expand and flesh out the Ender backstory. Compare the original story against the book and its various editions. The story does change. The version in First Meetings is the gold standard.
