“The story, told through Jacob's standpoint, addresses the perfidious environment of a traveling circus, the difficulties and misfortunes of the working men, and the hard and cruel tricks needed to get the show on road. Jacob, a ninety three year old man in a nursing home, who doesn't believe him as aged and tries to survive the old age, reminisces the glory and dangerous days of the past, when he jumped a circus train and lands himself a job as the circus vet and into Marlena and August's life. The story has its moments, be it romance or humor and also manages to fill the reader with dread at the cruelties inflicted on the animals. All in all, a great read!”
