No Star Wars huh? That's sad. I like Star Trek (mostly Next Generation, but I'm sure if I ever actually watched the original series I'd like it) but I've always preferred Star Wars. I did read a really weird Star Trek trilogy once. Of all oddnesses, it was a combination of Star Trek and the X-Men. I can't remember much of it now, but somehow the X-Men get transported onto the Enterprise. All I really remember is that Warf and Wolverine really hit it off. Ever heard of that one?

Now I'm curious...of the Barbara Hambly-authored Star Trek books you have, which would you most recommend? I'd like to try one. By the way, how's the Terry Pratchett? Is that his latest one? Maybe I'll try that one, too.

I discovered that one of my favorite authors, Barbara Hambly, has written a couple Star Trek books. Have you read any of hers?

The gymkhana I participated in was held at the end of October, so all the little kids--and some of the adults--were dressed up for Halloween. I would have loved to have seen my trainer (who hosted the event) in fancy dress as well. The fact that you participated in the event that way shows you have a sense of humor! I should have known that by the Terry Pratchett books on your shelf. By the way, thanks for the reminder...I added some of his to mine, too! My husband bought "Going Postal" by accident, but it turned out we both like his weird characters and sense of humor.

I'm intrigued by the idea that you wear a Star Trek uniform when you judge horse shows. Sounds like fun! I've competed in only one show: a gymkhana event hosted by the barn where I take lessons. I ride English, but I still did pole bending, barrel racing, keyhole race, and a command class...got a 4th, 3rd, and two 1sts, respectively. I absolutely love learning to ride...I've been doing equitation with bits of dressage and hunt seat mixed in. Reading horsey mysteries are my way of coping with my addiction between lessons. What's your favorite horse book, so far?

By the way, who's the pony in your picture? What kind of pony is he/she? I've been riding a nice pony mare named Brava; not the Thoroughbred mare, Shayna, in my picture. Feel free to ramble on about your steed any time...I love talking about horses!

Thanks, Bobby S, for your invitation! Have you ever been to a ST convention? I haven't; I'm guessing you have because where else would you wear your uniform? I've never read any books based on the series; I'm afraid to because I'm not sure I'm comfortable with having characters developed by people other than the ones who wrote them for the show. What do you think...are the books any good compared to the shows?

I see you love Star Trek...I take it you like the original series best. I think it is underrated; many of the themes dealt with in the show are still relevant today. I personally got hooked on TNG and still miss it. Patrick Stewart is an awesome actor. Anyway, I just thought I'd say hello to someone else who loves Star Trek AND horses. Hello!
