Fascinating viewpoints. Hitchens really makes you analyze what and how religion teaches you to think. He presents a really well thought out argument for atheism, which is far and away more humanitarian than most if not all religions. He was raised in Britain so there is much reference to the Protestant God...though he takes all religions to task. All religions have had evil done in their name and he definately airs the dirty laundry most people would have you look past.

I loved this book. I love DuMaurier, she is a great author. The story is beautifully told. I cannot tell where the original author leaves off and she picks up.

Interesting, however, I really didn't like the absence of personal responsibilty he excuses because people are not living conciously. It is watered down Buddhism made more palatable to Americans by taking the moral guides of Buddhism out.

Another wonderful book on communicating with your kids, and also, not forcing them into roles by parental expectations. It helped prevent my daughter who was very uncomfortable as a young child (birth-4) with other people and new situations without being in my arms, from being labled shy by my husband and myself. She's seven now, and you would not believe how engaging she is with children and adults alike. If I had allowed people to call her shy, she probably would be because she would think I expected her to be.

A must read for parents. Here is a parenting book that doesn't make you feel like a jerk for not being the ideal parent one hundred percent of the time, but the techniques when practiced and used will promote peace, harmony and communication in your home.

  • The Underground History of American Education

A MUST READ for anyone who has been through the American education system, or is contemplating putting their child through it. Mr. Gatto is a fabulous person, I had a chance to meet him when he gave a presentation to a Libertarian group several years ago. His writing, and his speaking, can seem to wander, but he does tie it all together in a very eye opening way.
